Bern Helmets: Macon Review

There used to be two different options for riders who used bucket helmets. You could either shred on an unapproved style of helmet, which offered no protection, yet fit well, looked good, and was comfortable. On the other hand, you could get an approved style helmet which offered full protection, but is uncomfortable, doesn’t fit, and made you look like toad from Mario kart 64. You now have a third option…STATS:

Company: Bern Unlimited
Make: Macon Hard Hat
Size: Large

If you visit www.bernunlimited.com you’ll see that Bern is also highly known in the snow, water, and pavement industry. There are 12 different options for helmets. Six styles for girls, six styles for boys. There is also a ton of colors, and designs for the 12 different helmets.

Bern also offers a unique “No Sweat” padding that keeps you cool and dry by BROCK. Ask bike riders what one of their main complaints is about the helmet they wear, and you’ll always get the same answer: Heat and sweat build up. The new Brock Foam, made of partially fused, polymer beads and an elastic adhesive, allows free flow of air in all directions throughout the foam and around your head, accelerating evaporative cooling and drying. In addition, the elastic component in Brock Foam improves fit and comfort and helps the foam return to its original shape after impact, thereby offering protection for multiple impact applications.

The fit of these helmets is absolutely amazing. Most companies only offer a small, medium, or large. Or even just one single size and you have to adjust it with pad sizes, or a piece of plastic to fit your head uncomfortably. Bern offers up to five different sizes for each helmet, so you can find the perfect fit for you.

Bern Unlimited Helmets are entering the world of Mountain Biking with versatile new helmets. The style and fit of an unapproved helmet, with a more protection for those scary crashes to your dome. Visit www.bernunlimited.com for more information, or contact your local bike shop and get them to carry Bern!

I like the baker model with the little lip. Looks funny but so futuristic.

Yeah this Macon model is pretty plain jane compared to the other models I see on their site. The G, Brentwood and other models I think look better with their molded vents and body accents. At the same time I like things that are minimalistic so the Macon may be a good choice too.
