Big Mountain Enduro #4: Durango - JHK and Krista Park Take the Weekend

Sep 1, 2013
by Big Mountain Enduro
The Big Mountain Enduro returned to the racing scene this Labor Day weekend with its fourth stop of the series in Durango, Colorado, August 31 - September 1. The weekend of racing was some of the most physically demanding racers have seen yet, with nearly all of the transitioning done without shuttle assistance.

Day 1 sent racers deep into the backcountry to the top of Kennebec Pass and down the infamous Colorado Trail for two stages with more than 6,000' of descending. Day 2 kept riders close to town, throwing the most technical stage of the Series on Raider's Ridge at riders, and keeping riders guessing at who would pull away at the end of the weekend with a healthy mix of fast descents, alpine singletrack, rocky ridges and rumbly roads.

The top contenders in the Pro Men and Pro Women battled it out all weekend long, taking turns taking the lead on respective stages. Jeremy Horgan Kobelski (Trek Factory Racing) and Krista Park (Cannondale) took the win after four stages.

Big Mountain Enduro's next race brings racers to the finals in Moab, Utah on September 28-29. Stay tuned to BME's Facebook and Twitter for further updates. http://www.facebook.com/BigMountainEnduro

... of course leave it up to the commentators to bring up wheel size when it was left well enough alone... Maybe it is you who makes an issue of it?

Regardless of wheelsize, this was an awesome event with awesome trails and demanding terrain. Props to the BME for a sick race.

Why did the article not mention wheel size? Is it possible that the race is actually still interesting without someone bringing up the "my wheels are better than yours so f*ck off" argument?
  • 8 2
Yes, the wheel size thing is annoying as shit and you aren't helping by bringing it up

Agreed! I'm really getting sick of it also. To each to their own and their own opinion. Wether you like big wheels small wheels or something in between i really don't care cuz i know what I like.

Yeah I was surprised there was no wheele size mentioned. Omg how is anyone going to know what bike to buy now.
I'm assuming since there was no mention it means a 26" won, so they didn't want to bring it up.

I would ride a 29er..... Lol. No. I would go with a 26 all day any day, and stay old school for the rest of my life.

Well, it looks like Yeti is the most dominate brand in enduro, so buy a yeti! : )
