Due to the huge amount of snow in France this winter, Bikepark Châtel will open a bit late. As we have a spy from Shaperideshoot who works as a shaper in the resort we had the chance to ride the fresh made trails. Can't wait to June 22nd for the opening.

"You've got to have some big testes to ride them drops on a hardtail!" or none at all.

3 balls at once, who would have known it!
  • + 21
 ...the size of weather balloons!!

Chatel is one of the best bike parks in the world, the trails there would be triple black diamonds in North America, yet they're only single black there, and guys are riding them on stumpy evos and SX trails like it's nothing. It's awesome to have features in a park that actually challenges me to ride. Steep gnar and huge drops and gaps everywhere.

 Hardtail Or NO TAIL!!!!
  • + 7
Does anyone know the make and model of those frames? +1 for hardtails
  • + 6
 I think it's a Dartmoor Hornet.
  • + 6
Dartmoor Hornet and a Genesis Alpitude
  • + 2
 yes it's a dartmoor Hornet!
  • + 1
Awesome, thanks. Been looking for a solid HT
  • + 1
just imagine them on a dh bike. They would shred even harder!!!! this is what inspires to get out there and hit those features that freak me out all the time!!!

Is it just me or did some of those clips look sped up? Maybe I'm just dumb.
  • + 3
note to self, plan trip to Chatel
  • + 3
i still have a note lying here somewhere.. . to go to whistler..
  • + 2
i live in whistler and I wanna go there. Whistler has pretty much no big drops cept the bone yard.
  • + 1
Yep, I was pretty sad when they cut out the clown shoes and schleyer drops. There's a couple further up the hill on Black Velvet if you get creative on the wallride, and out on sidetrack.
  • + 1
I know of some others as well, you should come up so I can show you
  • + 1
 I should come up?
  • + 21
Cant wait to be out there this summer!! so tired of riding DH trails about 30 second long.
  • + 2
Yeah dude. Going later TODAY! So syked I cant sleep!! Big Grin
  • + 1
I go out for Summer on Sunday Big Grin have to agree with both of you as well.
  • + 14
What was that weird triangle on the back of the bike? It seemed to be preventing the rear suspension from working.
  • + 3
 best comment ever
  • + 7
Damn, I'd like to see the shape of his wheel after that case at the end.
  • + 4
I'll send you a photo and you'll be surprised
  • + 6
Their CTD forks appear to be working well...
  • + 1
 so funny......................
  • + 1
Probably decending in climb mode tho Razz
  • + 1
Now that's a gravity park! only a half pedal stroke in the whole downhill. I like the guy that wet his jeans on the last jump. Blackcomb take note! {although they probably are as i write} I'm going to France
  • + 3
you don'what ypou're talking about but grass is always greener on the other side of the fence . I prefer ride whistler ...
  • + 2
I'd trade either of those places for my 45 second local tracks..
  • + 4
 hardtails with flats...not clips........killing it!
  • + 5
 I. Want. To. Go. There.
  • + 5
1 Month to go till im out there!
  • + 1
Just over 2 weeks for me Smile
  • + 3
3 weeks for me.....air voltage on a hard tail, WTF.....fair play to him!!
  • + 1
Might try it on my HT Smile , then again maybe not lol
  • + 1
Alright dont rub it in! Looks like weathers starting to change a bit out there as well!
  • + 1
There in 22 hours time! Big Grin
  • + 1
still a couple of months for me Frown
  • + 1
36 days for me... Smile can't wait
  • + 1
6 weeks until i go out, there is still a ton of snow up there though! If you check the webcam on the pds website you'll see what i mean!
  • + 1
2 Days for meee Big Grin
  • + 3
Well don't make too many braking bumps Wink
  • + 1
Haha It's my first time out there ever, I have a feeling I'll be visiting the scenery for the first week Razz
  • + 1
hats off to doing that on a HT, but what happens when the trail isn't smooth?!?!? the conditions cant always be perfect especially at a bike park, break bumps on a HT would be no bueno as they say in the south
  • + 2
within 2 weeks of opening most of the PDS bike parks are reduced to endless braking bumps, it won't look like that for long.
  • + 3
The world needs more trails, more mountains open with fun places like this...so all can enjoy the awesomeness of Biking!
  • + 4
All of that with hardtails.................suck it.
  • + 2
Hardtails work there because the trail is manicured smooth. I think it takes massive balls ...and skill to ride those drops on any bike
  • + 3
It's always good to see some rad hardtail riding.
  • + 2
Though I love my suspension bikes, some of the most fun shreds are on a HT.
  • + 1
It didnt show them going off the biggest drop on Air voltage trail. Maybe a bit to big.

www.pinkbike.com/photo/8540492

This is the last one on Air voltage ^^^^^^^
  • + 2
the one your are talking about is smaller than the one of the video. Believe me
  • + 1
No its not, the first is the road gap, quite short with a steep landing. The second is the northshore drop with the gap in between the landing. That is harder because of the gap and u have to huck it. The third drop is the on I have posted the picture of, its bigger, higher and the gap is longer.
  • + 3
Impressed to see the park shredded hard on the hardtails. You guys rock!
  • + 1
Wouldn't see me dropping a kerb on single crowns but you guys are mental chicken oriental
  • + 1
Good to see that people are taking huge jumps and aren't spending a ton of money on how they do it.
  • + 3
 Hardtails killing it!!
  • + 1
Is it a bike park like whistler where u go up via chair lift?
  • + 1
yes it is. But Chatel isn't the only one out there. The whole Portes du Soleil opens with trails on every slope and many, many lifts
  • + 1
Just over 3 weeks and I'm there. Woop!!
  • + 1
cant wait till i go in july. Smile
  • + 1
15 days i'll be there! Excited doesn't come close!!!
  • + 1
Sick how they can just flick their hardtails anywhere. so light
  • + 2
 Thundercase
  • + 1
Wow nice trail ! and crazy good rider !
  • + 1
This place looks like a lot of fun! ...I wish I'd be able to go there Frown
  • + 2
 Those berms!!
  • + 1
 19th of July...PDS here i come!
  • + 1
Only 12 days will I'm out there
  • + 1
The camera guy sure cut the riders heads off alot
  • + 1

  • - 1
i hit drops like that on my transition bank before i had my NS soda fr! but still they have got big balls!
  • + 0
This is good marketing/advertising for Chatel!!
  • - 1
The amount of skill needed to ride big jumps like this on a hardtail is huge ! Wouldnt not like to land badly :L
  • + 0
HELMETS AT All TIMES! guys teach the kids right!.........jus sayin
  • + 7
Ok but will your kids wear helmets at the bathroom ? Jus sayin
  • + 2
My kids will only wear helmets in the bathroom!
  • + 1
your french you prolly should where a helmet in the bathroom.................pinkbikes own rule about posting vids say dont post without a helmet................ jus sayin
  • + 2
You better go to school before answering. Lesson givers piss me off !

Nevermind

How many vids shows DJ riders without a helmet, it's more dangerous than this. And PB didn't filter them, you know ! It's like I said : wearing a helmet at the bathroom !

So take a breath and stop giving lessons
  • + 0
whatever frenchie lol no lesson=learn the hard way. in the US you get a ticket from the cops in most places for riding without one.for under 18yo.and as soon as you buy your race licence you have to where your helmet or you lose your race licence for riding......read the rules(im sure theres a french copy),follow the rules, and be a good biking example for young riders.

the more people who go out riding and end up with head injurys from no helmets just means the sport you and i love will start losing areas to ride, loss of trails, dirt jump parks, and make everything resort only with cops telling you to where one anyways....

i raced a couple of weeks ago broke one hand sprained the other and destroyed my brand new full face helmet over shooting some small stupid jump. just goes to show!
  • + 0
plus your still a kid anyway........when you have kids you may understand.........ignorance is bliss!
  • + 2
for all you negative prop giving jerks for an honest statement.............go ride without your frickin helmet and break your frickin head then there will be less dumbasses here on pinkbike and on the trails!
  • + 2
Not a single neg prop from me. And I ride with a helmet where I need one.

I was angry about your "jus sayin", not about wearing a helmet. This vid was pretty safe in my opinion, conpared with that BMX vid on mfym today... Peace
