The 2007 British National Points (NPS) Downhill Race Series has been awarded to new Race Directors: Stephen Parr and Si Paton of SPS Ltd. British Cycling’s Off-Road Coordinator Roger Wilbraham today has announced that SPS Ltd have been successful in their tender application to run the NPS Downhill Series in 2007. The successful bid focuses on turning a race weekend into an "Event" to be enjoyed by the riders, their support crew and the local community. The riders will be tested physically and mentally to and beyond their limits on the UK's most challenging courses. We have listened to the Marshalls, Spectators, Moms and Dads as well as the riders to understand what they want, enabling us to deliver past their expectations a series worthy of the NPS title. Courses located around the U.K, Practise all day Saturday, two live timed runs on Sunday (one seeding) , No1 Parademics, Trade Pitts, Professional Commentator, Marquee, Entertainment, Quality Sound System and no Uplift Queues!

To ensure maximum attendance from both riders and spectators for the 2007 NPS, full exposure both pre and after race in all the mountain bike related media as well as local press is planned to encourage the local community to attend. There will be a warm welcome to all bicycle industry companies who will be encouraged to attend and showcase their services and products to the benefits of the riders and supporting crowds. We look forward to seeing you all trackside at the NPS in 2007, riding, spectating and enjoying yourselves.

Chris Porter says, “2007 promises to be an exciting year for British DH racing! As you probably know, Mojo Suspension took the step of boycotting the National Points Series in 2006. We believe both racers and sponsors will now get value for money now that a promoter who has the long term future of the sport in mind has been secured. Mojo Suspension can now start turning up at races again! I guess we'll see you all at the new, revitalized NPS next year... “
