Excellent edit, sick trails, makes me want to go shred! Always make sure to give props to the builders if/when you get a chance, they are the ones who make it all possible! Although I've helped maintain trails I've never actually built my own but I hope to change that the first chance I get!
Trails building= most rewarding thing you can do! Puts a smile on my face everytime I get on my bike I just think to my self I built this.... But what could I do to improve it? Never ending task
You look to have some pretty awesome places to ride were u are anyway judging from your profile? ..... In saying that it's not the same riding someone else's track as it is your own! Just add to it discreetly haha
Maybe that's a drawback for living in a modern and developed country. Serbia is a shitty place to live in, but we are not really concerned about forest services, because they are not interested too much in keeping the law.
@jester1826 those places are on my summer holiday i would add to other runs but other runs dont exist. the problem is, hong kong is covered in thick jungle so the amount of cutting required would be huge. also it rains heavyly all summer so erosion would be a big problem. sometime the mountains are to steep etc. stuff grows soooo fast contsant cutting would be needed to ride the trail. i just wake up early (6;30) on weekends and ride walking trials (illegal) before the park patrol comes out on the patrol. but the trials arent challenging or very fun. I guess not every ones lucky enough to live next to sick riding.
That was awesome! hard work pays off in the end and makes it well work the work. Wish my stuff could turn out like this being a 1 man team sucks sometimes!
yeah building alone sucks ,but everytime i go out building alone (which happens alot) i just build my stuff as big i want and when the others complain i'm just like " yeah i know its big ,but thats how i like to ride .just build your own chickenway around it "
Yeah I find working alone is often better , some times people don't share your vision , or have doubts about a certain section/jump. When you are alone , as poritz said , you can build as big/scary/rough as you like , I find people want stuff that is either to easy to ride or way to much effort to build for little reward.
The best people are the ones tha go ' LIKE YEAH man you could build a 8ft tall berm there and then a landing there and and .. ' , you then you say you do realise that will take me 3 days on my own ... ?(hint hint) but as soon as you mention them helping they tend to f*ck off !
Yeah that is some of the good that does come out of it like both you guys said was about being able to build your own visions and build it how you wanted. I hate having to follow guidelines or having to build extra sections like an easier line or stuff like that!
Building alone has its ups and downs but in the end it all amounts to the same thing!
I'm lucky enough to own a 5 acre block of land right next to both of my brothers 5 acre blocks. Once i move home in the next few years and build me a house, the trails will be built everywhere - starting from the Verandah roll in. We are allready saving for the excavator!
Shit kid I'm 29 got 7 Herniated Disc in my back and I'm still out buiding! I've been building since I was 14yrs old. Next time they tell you biking is childish, tell them they are right and you are going to give up biking! Get a job and start snorting cocaine cause that is what adults do! lmao they will love that....
They won't like that at all, but tell them riding is better then doing drugs like all the other kids! That will get them off your back.
Ditto !! 45 in a few days here... work full time, college full time(still) and ride/build/ride as often as I can !! The clock never stops ticking for any of us...anywhere....so I say ....Go out and ride your bicycles and enjoy it while you can !!!
As someone whos done a bit of trailbuilding in recent times, nothing makes me more stoked than knowing the track is being used by the downhill/freeride community. Some jumps I've helped build, I don't even have the balls to try out, but when those who do hit them tell you they're sick, yeah, its a pretty good feeling...
just imagine that you have a your own forest near your house somewhere in the wild but not too far from the town and making your own trails, jumps and everything that you can imagine.Thats life for me.
What I don't like about trail building.
1. You get obsessive. i.e. you don't want grass on your berms, you always want the berms to be perfect.
2. Most of the time it's just you, they only come out when it's time to play.
...But at the end of the day, you get to tap yourself on the back and get stoked when you're on the bike shredding it.
You are right about the obsessive part , when I build a new feature on one of my lines like a new gap jump I worry like crazy through out the week that some one may of taken a dissliking to the new feautre and ' modified ' it to suit thier own (low) skillset.
I never realized how hard it would have been to build a trail, let alone one huge mountain for down hilling. Watching the guys at Red Bull Rampage building their insane lines was crazy. Lucky for them, the weather was sweltering hot. I once was in Utah around that area when it was 110 fahrenheit. I really wish we had that type of terrain and that type of hard-working trail workers here in San Diego. I think it is safe for me to say on account of all my fellow bikers, is that we are thankful for all of your hard work on the trails. Talking about trails, Brandon Semenuk's back yard line is insane!
sweet trails! I always enjoy putting time in on trailwork when I can. Theres nothing more rewarding than building new trails for people to enjoy for years to come. Oh wait, yes there is... Riding them! Great video!
Seriously bad-ass editing there. Great contrast and framing on it. Where is this property? My dream is to own a plot like that and build my playground. These guys are living the Loif!
That's a nice track to have in the backyard, or any space. Community involvement is the key to maintaining and building these parks and tracks. We need more people like these guys around my neck of the woods.
this trail is so fucking genious. will come back as soon as possbile. A big thank u to bikeattitude.net for always improving this track. Someday i want to ride the whole line with the obstacles
inspiring...... i think i might just do something like this one day.... of course with having a bike park a 10 minute pedal from my house idk if it would be worth it
And Jester, what you said pretty much sums it up.
Stoked on this vid!
I love you guys :-)
