Well it is official Chilliwack has its very own Dirt Jump & Skills Park. Over the last couple of weeks there has been a weekly (daily for some) insurgence of builders (Gary Harder, Byron "Batman" Kitt, Ryan Popma and many others) working in a small lot on Webb Ave. The resulting outcome of hours of shovel work and watering is an awsome dirt jump and skills park. It has five dirt jump lines from beginer tables to a massive four pack (yet to be dialed in). There is also a pump track tucked away in the back corner. Beside the pump track is a kiddy loop for the true beginners to begin honing their skills on too.
Boys workin the jumps
I had the opportunity to stand back and watch some of the local huckers (Cody Redfernll 16) send it on the dirt jumps. These young guns have so much skill already and its only going to get better.
But what realy caught my attention was a brother and sister team Miguel (7) and Vanessa Wood (5) riding the smallest set of tables. They both had grins that you could see all the way a cross the park (even with Miguel wearing a full face helmet) as they cheered each other on. Their parents standing on the side lines praising them with every go around.
Well if you are looking for a good place to log in a few air miles look no further. Just head to Chilliwack and look where the kids with bikes are headed and they will lead you to the Chilliwack Dirt Jump/ Skills Park.
Remember to keep the shiney side up and the rubber down.
