James Doerfling gets a heli assist to the top of his line featuring a tight and twisty chute with vertical walls and a massive mandatory gap on the exit.
Man you BC'ers really GTF out there. I had to keep zooming out and out and out and still couldn't see any towns or civilization. I feel gnarly when I'm at the top of Garbanzo... and this is waaaay further out there. Bad. Ass.
Oh look a comment that you see on every contour or go pro featured video!
It all depends on how you edit, export/import, conditions you film in and what host your using, its just personal preference. Anyways, they're both good for what 99% of us use them for, which is for edits to show your buddies so who cares if one is slightly better quality than the other. Personally I'm a fan of the go pro just because of the chestie.
Even on the contour crazy edited stuff, the go pro edits look wayyy better. Also the shape lets you mount your GoPro anywhere, and so many more mounting options, plus its water proof, and you can dive with it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUEZCxBcM78
ya. this is to contour. Your camera is better shaped and has a higher sound quality. I am exited to see what u will have come up with in 2013 because your quality is almost the same as go pro, and i think gopro doesn't have much more they can make, where as you guys have much more creativity and sponsor better people. I think I will buy a 2013 contour over the gopro because the contour will be much better.
@livetoride93. You can mount a contour anywhere. You just need the right mounts. Same goes for a go pro really. Let me guess. You own a go pro? The quality is about the same for both. To each his own really. I like the sleak design of the contour. It's less prone to catching on things. I have seen more than one go pro snap off at the mount and fly off the trail. The contour is also waterproof to an extent. You can ride in the rain with it, ski with it. It's just not submersible. I could care less if I could dive with. If i was into wake surfing then I would want the gopro
if contour made a design that worked as well as a gopro in the chest mount, kept the same quality with the new design and kept the pricetag of the roam gopro would be out of business
Everybody bags on contour, I don't know too much about contour but the only noticeable thing I see when comparing it to gopro is gopro has a wider Field Of View
i have a contour. never used a go pro but theres main reasons why. the contour only has 3 buttons (record,on/off,and bluetooth). makes it much more simple. also if you have the right mounts it does everything a go pro does. also ive noticed the quality is pretty much the same depending on the setting and editing. ither way thyer are both really good. it just comes down to personal opinion and what exactly your using it for. =)
A buddy and I recorded some riding in Sun Valley recently, and put together an edit of my Contour and his Go Pro from the same ride. The color saturation and picture clarity was noticeably richer and crisper with the Contour over the Go Pro. The footage was imported and edited on the same Mac using I-movie.
GoPro's footage and capabilities is better for videographers, the footage is like shooting in RAW on your camera, no contrast, saturation or sharpening is added, it is a flat file made to be processed. When you process the GoProHD hero2's footage you end up with crisper, brighter images then the Contour, i have used both and edited both the same. Gopros are flat and square allowing to be mounted anywhere, including a chest mount. Contour's shape limits its it and where it can be mounted, it also does not have as many options for mounts as a GoPro. The GoPro being fully waterproof just makes it that much more versatile, the case on a GoPro is also much more durable, just look at G-forms iPad case test where they dropped a GoPro from 10,000ft. There is a reason why more companies and media producers use a GoPro, from discovery channel to RedBull crashed ice.
Def an improvement from the last contour, but i can't say better then GoPro, and if anything at least with a GoPro you can legit mount it anywhere, i owned a Contour and it was a pain to mount. I also own a gropo and love how easy it is to mount securely anywhere. I can't honestly say for sure that GoPro is better then the new Contour until i see the full HD footage from both, interested to see. What kind improvements can we be looking for? New censor, bigger censor, better lens coating for clarity, higher fps?
