Following the huge success of the inaugural BRAKE BURNER RACE at Coronet Peak, Queenstown, in February this year, Greg McIntyre of Fat tyre Adventures is pleased to announce the next BRAKE BURNER RACE will be held on
2 Feb, 2008. “Coronet Peak has thrown its full support behind the event once again and I’ve already had lots of interest from riders so I’m expecting the race to be even bigger and better next year”.The BRAKE BURNER is a super-D (a combination of downhill and cross-country) endurance mountain bike race for recreational riders where individuals or teams race against the clock to see how many laps they can complete in six hours.
Riders from all over the country turned up in February this year to take part in the BRAKE BURNER – the world’s first ever lift-accessed endurance race. The atmosphere on the day was fantastic and riders gave it their all – awesome weather, wicked tunes and over $10,000 worth of great prizes made for a blinder event.
The fastest riders took 18 minutes to complete a circuit (ten minutes down and eight minutes up in the chair lift) with the winner, Jeff Small, managing an impressive 18 laps on the day.
