Whistler Resort will unleash their legendary formula for throwing the world’s best freeride mountain bike festival south of the Canadian border when they partner with Winter Park Resort to produce Crankworx Colorado in Winter Park, Colorado July 5-7, 2007.

The event line-up will include a Cross-Country race, a downhill event modeled after the notorious Air Downhill, a Super D, Big Air and a Slopestyle with the course designed by John Cowan. Cowan is one of the most recognizable riders in dirt jumping and builder of the Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Bike Park’s Kona Jump Jam, and the world-renowned Hell Track I in San Diego, CA and Hell Track II in Kamloops, BC.

“Kokanee Crankworx in Whistler, BC has established itself as the most exciting freeride mountain bike events in the world,” says Bob Holme, Winter Park Resort’s Bike Park and Youth Marketing Manager. “Crankworx Colorado is going to produce mind blowing feats of athlectism and an unbelievable spectacle for spectators, whether young, young at heart, hardcore enthusiast or checking out the freeride mountain bike scene for the first time.”

Known for its close proximity to Denver, Winter Park Resort’s ease of access still manages to remain a world away from the every day hustle and bustle. Home to over 50 miles of lift-accessible mountain bike trails, Colorado’s longest Alpine Slide, and an abundance of music and food festivals, Winter Park Resort offers the perfect summer escape.

“Every year Whistler’s Kokanee Crankworx outdoes itself,” says Rob McSkimming, VP of Business Development at Whistler Blackcomb. “We are committed to providing the ultimate forum for the evolution of freeride mountain biking and we are stoked to work with Winter Park’s crew to bring Crankworx to Colorado. The freeride mountain bike terrain at Winter Park is gaining more and more recognition in the mountain bike community and Crankworx Colorado will introduce their epic single-track to even more riders.”

Crankworx is presented in partnership by Tourism Whistler, Whistler Blackcomb and the Resort Municipality of Whistler. Crankworx Colorado is presented in partnership with the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce and the US Forest Service.

yeah screw you guys who are whining its a canada thing. Canada has theirs now they are making an oppurtunity for the tons of cyclists in colorado who can't afford to go up to canada (ie myself) so stop being so f*ckin selfish and let us have ours who cares what they call it, the more events anywhere the better it is for our sport.

OK so who said that Colorado is trying to take away anypart of Crankworx. I know for a fact the lineup in BC is gonna be a fuck load more star studded than in Colorado. The real contenders would not risk injury so close to the real deal. Also dont talk like it was our call to bring it hear. Talk to Intrawest. All I know is that I will be there all of the days of events screaming my head off just barley sober enough to find my way to where im sleeping. maybe Canadians and Coloradoians arent so different

I think it's awesome! Who cares what it's called as long as it brings Mtn. biking to the masses. Colorado needs more events like this. . . . maybe they could have called it "knobbyworx".

f*ck you and your precious closed mind. . . What other groups of people are do you want to wrap in a neat little packages and generalize? Interesting to see the kind of fear and ignorence our president is preaching seems to be alive and well with our neighbors to the north. Gee, let's think. . .doesn't that sound like I'm generalizing your entire country by your comments? I've been biking for 10 years in B.C. I look forward to my two weeks in Canada all year long. I've made a TON of local friends on these trips and NONE of them have EVER made comments other than "You came all the way from Colorado, SWEET!" I've known the guys at ON TOP since 1997 and every year it's big hugs and "So psyched you could make it. Let's close down the shop and show you the new trails!" It's comforting to know most Canadians are cool. Much the same way most Americans are cool. It's the ignorant a*sholes like yourself that give our countries a bad name. (Good job)
LOVE YOU B.C.!!!!!!!!!!

I agree they could have at least called it something else. Crankworx is a Canadian thing and it should stay in canada.
