Jerome Clementz (FRA) crossed the finish line after an epic day of racing all over the Whistler Valley and from top to bottom of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. He describes himself as a “little guy who rides bikes and loves life” and he is certainly loving life today after clocking the fastest time at 36:46.23.

Second fastest Pro man was Curtis Keene (USA) +35.10 and coming in third was last year’s Enduro winner, Brian Lopes (USA) +46.27.

Whistler local Katrina Strand bettered her second place position from 2011 to dial in the fastest Pro woman time. Her time of 45:23.52 gave her an impressive lead over the next fastest women; Rosara Joseph (NZ) in second +2:02.98, and Katherine Short (CAD) +3:41.41.

The course was designed by Whistler local Richie Schley and featured varied terrain that favours the all-around rider. Enduro is a growing genre of off-road racing that pits cardio and strength against nerve and skill. The race design is fairly new to North America and uses a rally-style format involving four-timed “competition stages” linked by “transfer stages” not factored into the overall time.

Next up was the Whistler debut of the Dual Speed & Style presented by Avid, August 11 at 6pm. The Bud Light Zone was open once in Whistler Olympic Plaza from 7-10pm with refreshments for the +19 set while the big screens at Whistler Olympic Plaza simulcast the Dual Speed & Style presented by Avid. The concert line-up featured the ambient rock and power-pop of Jets Overhead at 7:45pm and Said The Whale at 8:45pm.

The ninth annual Crankworx Whistler is presented by Whistler Blackcomb and the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Crankworx Whistler is the biggest annual event held in Whistler and is also the largest freeride mountain bike festival in the world. Crankworx Les 2 Alpes took place for the first time July 9-15, 2012 and was the first Crankworx event to take place outside of North America. This new event will build on Crankworx’s legendary legacy in the arena of freeride mountain biking.

love Si, but the other guy is brutal. i remember last year when he did not know who guys were or where they were from. I know Tippie got hitched today but get him on the mic, too bad that it is xfighters in germany or they could have got warner over here. actually, that might be scary.

Brian Lopes, 40 years old and still giving a show, and that time with a 3th place! It's a proof that age is not an excuse... Legendary Brian!

Timing was fine. The transitions were short but not impossible to meet.

It was a joke. Arriving at a stage start and being told the clock is running, you've missed your start. Go Go! Yeah thanks... Let WORCA run this event as the effort Cronkworx puts in is poor. Here's an idea, mark transitions with direction arrows, give people an extra ten minutes between stages so they can actually put their helmet on their packs and remove their pads to ride up Blackcomb in 30 degree heat without missing their start time. Oh and if your not going to put up anything to signify the finish of the stage tell a marshall to shout "finish" at you rather than you have to either keep going or shout "is this the finish?" at them.
