Cruising the Baja - Solos Productions Style

May 9, 2011
by Mitch Cheek
When the days get short and Winter sets in, my mind starts to think of sun and surf! So that is exactly what we did. Kurt Sorge and Garett Buehler joined me on an adventure to the Baja California! Garett drove the coast down early and Kurt and I followed up on the I-5 freeway. After many hours behind the wheel we were relieved to meet up with Garett 2300kms south of home.

We took some time to stretch our legs by relaxing in a beautiful spot on the Pacific. Surf, endless beach and good shade from the Mexican sun.

After getting some surf in we made our way north to Santa Rosalita. It was a 500 km drive, so we were sure to make a stop on the sea of cortez.

We arrived at our destination and went to straight to the zone to scope and build for the upcoming shoot.

After dropping in a few lines the boys started to feel at home on the bikes

It was now my turn to perform:

The terrain was amazing, it felt as if we were on the moon! Other than the dry conditions making it difficult to form any lips, or features we were focused on finding natural lines.

After leaving the snow and rain it was "muy tranquillo" to see the sunset every night

this is a mega video. great work! i see a ton of them up here... but this one captures such a beautiful vibe... it keeps me focused here as i nurse my sprained neck. being off the bike is tough... but it is rad to see you youngsters out there getting after life in such a passionate and unexpected way. keep after it. i have been riding for 20 years... but the way in which the sport has progressed the past 5 years or so has been a renaissance. it is because of the unfettered spirits of you all! and it is this vibe of the explorative freedom of riding that really hits home with the power of mountain biking. whether finding that while exploring a new country, or by really tuning into the potential of a favorite home trail... please keep at it. i can't way to see what you all continue to do to progress the soul of our beloved sport. thanks!

Awesome! Find it funny there still hasn't been an "official" announcement on Buehler's switch to Knolly! But looks like he's settling in very nicely!
Nice job guys, looks like you all had a great time!

Like that was a really sick edit but I have a question. At 00:39 why were you filming some little girls as if they were hot or something????

It seemed more like he was focusing on the fact that the little boy was riding a bike around, this being a bike-themed video. Just my op.
