I own it and I use it for everything, different year but the same things. It's badass, I even use it for college, very light and fits snug. I won mine at the premier of "Seasons by The Collective"

I bought some 8-track shorts ($100 in canada) and they ripped second ride out...expected better for the price and perceived quality. I like the style and fit, but that doesn't mean much if they last 2 days.
  • 1 0
How did they rip? Did you catch them, fall or did they unravel on their own. Please be specific as to what happened, maybe it's a warranty issue.
  • 1 0
I must have caught them, but didn't notice when it happened. The rip isn't even on a seam, so the local shop said no warranty coverage was available. I've been in contact with Dakine and sent them a picture, but no reply yet(that was a month and a half ago).

Ooops, correction, they got back to me today and said they would warranty it...

Wow, I can't believe what you guys are saying! All my Dakine gear has held up literally three times as long as any other brands that I've used including Fox and 661. My Dakine gloves have lasted two seasons without a single tear! I would've bought 3 pairs of gloves at least from other manufactures to last that long. My 2 Dakine packs look like brand new after 2 seasons as well. Dakine=best product on the market in biking clothes/accessories.

Yeah, Dakine is cool and everything, but the quality just isnt there. Lets put it this way, my buddy has one of their packs, its junk after two seasons and the bladder leaked from day one. Ive got a Camelbak Mule from like 1999, (im not embelishing, this pack is over a decade old) and not a single busted stitch.

I just bought a dakine pack. the pack itself is nice but the hydrapack bladder is the worst thing I've ever owned. shoulda bought a camelback
  • 1 0
Dakine will be the first to admit that their older bladders were not up to par. Is yours the newer one that folds onto itself and then you seal it with a slider?
  • 1 0
just put a camelback bladder in it. they all make different sizes. problem solved
  • 1 0
yes its the newer style. worst bite valve ever. constantly drips, part of the black plastic on the mouthpiece has already broken off. its been used for less than an hour. my old camelback bladder lasted me 5 years.

I know I could buy a camelback bladder and be done with it but then why on earth would anyone buy another brand in the first place?
  • 1 0
Camel back are way more expensive than dakine and their bladders are way better. I have a mule but needed more room because I was a trail guide instructor. The dakine bladder kept on getting bubbles in the pipe yet there was no leak. But the apex bag is way better thought out than any camelback. So the camel back bladder now sits in the dakine bag! Wish dakine wud just sell the bags minus bladders.

Looks like Dakine is finally starting to compete with Sombrio...
  • 1 1
sombrio makes the worst quality gear i have ever riden!
  • 2 1
i have a 09 Nomad, it is the best pack you can get period...!! only 59.95 GBP at stif in the uk at the moment..
  • 1 0
The nomad pack is just great, so well thought out... I am still finding new pockets!!!
  • 1 0
doesn't matter what brand you buy, if you ride hard everything will rip eventually

Dakine gloves are the worst I've ever had the misfortune to buy...
  • 3 0
 Really, why?
  • 3 0
I had some Dakine gloves, for about two weeks they were the best gloves I've ever had, and then they fell apart.
  • 2 0
I have mine and they are super comfy and hold up pretty great. I can't say that about the TLD gloves for example...
  • 6 0
 "Why"
Well great when new, nice snug fit, seemed good quality, then they started to fall apart, and so did the replacement pair.
That nice snug fit I mentioned, get used to it while your in the store trying them on because after month or so of use, they become all baggy, loose and ill fitting.
The shape and fit also doesn't seem to have taken in the fact that you will be holding onto the handlebars. When you do grip the bars they bunch up in the palm area which ain't to clever or comfortable.
As you can tell, I wasn't very impressed...

Better than 661 though by the sounds of it. My last pair of 661 gloves lasted 3 hours before the velcro strap tore off, and 1 week before the outside of the left index finger was just a big hole. My TLD XC gloves have lasted me since june now, and theyre still sweet as!
  • 1 0
my dakines have lasted me a few months now, still going strong, the index finger rubber pad things on the tip for braking is gone, but thats any gloves. my only complaint is some of those hard plastic pad things get uncomfortable, but they're holding up great
  • 1 0
if you buy gloves 1 size too small or at least on the snug side. then once they stretch they fit perfect. i've done this with every pair of gloves i've ever owned(many brands). they all stretch. you can get them wet right away to help them fit perfect faster.

ncrider5 - U might be too young to fully acknowledge that, but this somewhat "macho" attitude leads to unwanted pregnancies and veneric diseases
