Following on from the success of ‘Inspired Bicycles’, ‘Way Back Home’ and more recently ‘Industrial Revolutions’, the world has been waiting with torturous amounts of anticipation for Danny’s next project.
The ‘MacAskill’s Imaginate’ series follows Danny as he returns from a career threatening injury to potentially the highlight of his career to date; taking inspiration and advice from some of his heroes and contemporaries along the way.
A compelling watch throughout, the series tracks the highs and lows of the last two years of Danny’s life, from major back surgery to getting back on his bike and pushing his riding to new levels. On the subject of this project, Danny says, “I have such a free-range that I can build the set-ups that allow me to do the tricks that have just been in my dreams, up until now.”
I believe that is a piece of Self-Propelled Artillery, not a tank. But what do I know? Oh yea, bikes are cool, and Danny Mac blows my mind each time I watch him ride.
When will pinkbike learn... STOP EMBEDDING THE STUPID RED BULL PLAYER. I can't believe I'm saying this but... embed the youtube versions instead. At least they've figured out the new, mysterious and complex technology that is known as auto-play.
On a serious note... this is the smartest move Danny (or whoever is behind this idea) has made. Online web series are the new hottness and are perfect for the sponsors to see how much exposure their athletes give them. I can't wait to watch these.
I first saw Danny I think a few months ago. I was/am very in awe and inspired to say the least. He is the single reason I have recently decided to pick the bike back up after almost ten years. I owe a lot of gratitude to this guy.
i actually support Danny MacAskill 100% because if he didnt post that first video he put on youtube i would not have biked as much as i do now. Thing is im a really good rider to my standers. work at the best bike shop in the city and am a fine Mechanic and love my life because of it. Only problem is i REALLY want to thank him my self and wish i could show him all my favorite secret spots because i bet he would like them!
I found this in an interview with National Geographic...
Adventure: Hurt? I would imagine that comes with the territory?
Danny MacAskill: Yes, I was out filming in British Columbia and I had a crash while I was on a log. It was nothing too extreme. I just twisted my knee the wrong way and tore my meniscus. Growing up I was very lucky. There were a lot of situations where if I hadn’t been lucky I would probably be dead. I mean, I got hit by cars, fell out of trees. I think I’ve broken 12 helmets in my life. Never really got hurt.
Last couple of years that luck is all catching up to me. I’ve dislocated my index finger. I’ve broken my wrist. I’ve broken my right collarbone three times in a row, torn my meniscus, and fell six feet flat onto my back on concrete. That took a little bit to recover from. If I was bothered by it all, I wouldn’t do the kind of riding I do. I do worry that my riding has suffered. I’ve been off the bike 14 months in the last two years.
