Industrial Revolutions sees Danny take his incredible bike skills into an industrial train yard and some derelict buildings. Filmed in the beautiful Scottish countryside Danny Macaskill's latest film was directed by Stu Thomson (Cut Media/MTBcut) for Channel 4's documentary Concrete Circus.
The Danny MacAskill clips count among the most popular clips on YouTube ever. With more than 12 million views (“Way back home”) and even 26 million views (“Inspired Bicycles”), the 26-year-old bike rider got famous all over the world and even beyond the bike industry.
And now we’re presented with a new background for Danny’s amazing skills. As we all know by now, Danny is deeply rooted in his Scottish home country, and once again stays faithful to Scotland for his new clip “Industrial Revolutions”. Yesterday evening, the clip was launched in the British TV-show “Concrete Circus” on Channel 4 Television. “Concrete Circus” is an UK urban sports documentary, produced by Mike Christie, featuring, beside Danny, also skaters, bmx-riders and parkourists representing their disciplines.
Together with Danny, director and camera man Stu Thomson had been looking for the perfect location for a while which wasn’t easy at all. Since Danny already filmed several legendary videos in cities and the Scottish highlands, Stu and Danny decided to settle for a combination of urban and country context: An old, abandoned ironworks factory in the Scottish countryside completely exposed to nature. A perfect playground for Danny! Because from his point of view, nothing is more appropriate for riding than some rotten industry area, including old and rusty wagon trains.
“We wanted something different from Danny's other videos, but as I'm from a MTB background I didn't want to produce a standard 'urban' bmx style video. We looked hard for a location that would have a character in the film and make it very different from the others ”, Stu Thomson explains the idea behind the clip.
Danny makes his way through the old production plant like only he can, pulling literally one highwire act after the other. That means: A feast for your eyes!
Stu and Danny only took a single week for the shooting in the South of Scotland, so the production was pretty stressful. But as you can see in the result of their work, it was a lot of fun and led to a fantastic outcome and lots of spectacular tricks. Danny comments: “We were pretty tight on time making it, as I have had a busy year, but with Stu's filming skills and a great soundtrack I think we have managed to pull of a fun little film!

VOD, VOM, VOY Concrete circus was very good on channel 4. I got the impression from concrete circus that Danny did not really start his segment until the others were near complete. I know, lets pitch at this old yard, afternoon shred. Another Epic video done.... Danny = Legend.
@morsinator he may appear to be doing the same stuff but dont forget he has just come back form injury, The technicalities of Dannys riding is off the scale and yes he can do tricks such as foot jame tale whips just to mix it up but personally i dont think there is any need, Dannys riding is raw and precise, this is what makes dannys riding so amazing and brilliant to watch.
How can you say it´s always the same boring stuff Morsinator? I´d never seen him ride on a wire or inside a building or jumping from one train carriage on to another... if it bored you that much, how come you don´t switch on your tv and watch an exciting baseball game or American football? talk about repetitive boring cr+p!!
Concrete Circus was the best TV I've seen in a long old time- Good to see Danny getting the exposure he deserves. We should have DIRT CIRCUS with Pilgrim, Peaty & Matt Priest... Now that would be sick.
its not like moresinator is hating on danny. he said he thought he was a good rider but he personally just doesn't like the discipline of riding. the people getting defensive about it need to grow the f*ck up.
While clearly most people don't agree you don't need to attack @Morsinator. That's what props do. You don't need to call him stupid or insult him, he simply gave his opinion. And most of you dont agree because he may not see the degree of difficulty on his tricks. And @fedet11 those are both great sports, I don't see how insulting them made you prove your point anymore... People need to learn to get along, we can have different opinions.
@doorknob100 you clearly contradict yourself mate... i seriously think both baseball and American football are dead BORING and repetivite and that´s my opinion and as you said "we can have different opinions" so try not to censure my opinions or make a comment where you contradict youself so foolishly as you have done.
Contradicting yourself pointing out my contradiction. That's my opinion. However, my point is that I didn't insult you trying to make my point. And I don't understand that because I disagreed with you means you have to get all defensive and insult me, as well.
I doubt he drinks that crap. Just like I doubt Sam Hill actually drinks monster. They have a "drink" when media is watching, for their sponsor, but any top athlete wouldn't go near that junk.
Nope. I know things about Energy drinks that most people don't, as I have worked for one of the largest energy drink companies.
A good athlete won't drink them at all. The only thing most real athletes go near is the 5 hour energys, which aren't even close to as bad as one of these. Only thing some athletes will go near is Redline's, and that is purely in the body building world (it was made to be a ripped fuel alternative).
Only thing they will do is kill your GI tract, give you gullbladder and kidney infections, and make you brittle as glass.
You know, I just thought, I can almost bet some of the companies that sponsor riders, such as redbul, or Monster, would probably just can up water for their athletes in the normal energy drink cans for during the race, or after a victory, or infront of the media. I just thought about that now. Wouldn't be in anyway hard, and really, sponsors want A: Promo, but B: they want their athletes to be healthy and winning, so it goes back to A: Promo again and again.
It's like a reverse Cheech and Chong. Instead of Vodka replacing the judges water, it's water replacing the energy drink =]
All that work? What work? It's automated and takes nothing to fill a pallet of cans with water. You have obviously never been to a plant before. (I worked for M.E. btw) It's generally more than a sip in many cases. IE why I think water makes much more sense. But who knows these days.
I would like to see a multi discipline competition between Him, Brandon Semenuk and Gee Atherton. All do a trials/street test, a slopestyle course and a DH race giving points for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each event and see who wins. I know Danny can do some slopestyle tricks, but not sure about DH skill, I know Atherton can so some tricks, but not sure about his trials skills and I know Semenuk can do all except (maybe?) trials. I think it would be fun to watch at least.
I remember in the Atherton Project when Macaskill rode with the Athertons, they couldnt do half what he did. The other way round? Not sure, but I'd bet damn well he is insane on a DH bike! oh, and a DJ bike, and a slopestyle bike too....
That just gave me an idea... A "day in the life of Danny Macaskill" video where he does literally everything on his bike, eat, shower, get groceries, etc...etc... and when he's off it he can barely walk or function.
what a fantastic documentary.all involved were beyond talented but gees a lou danny macgaskill is freakin awsome, the control that guy has is without doubt the most controled inch perfect riding i have ever seen or even likely too for quite some time to come, my best part was the top of the train carrage skeleton hop and then onto the tight rope, wow!!!!
Once again I am speechless of seeing another video by Danny Macaskill! This guy has some serious talent and knows how to show it! The scenery, photography, music, everything comes into place with this video! Truely amazed, no way I would be able to hop on those train carts with out falling!
Holy Fetch, Danny is completely INSANE!!!!!!! I want more... I think they should make a whole feature length film of Danny Macaskill riding all over the world. and may I just say again, HOLY FRIGGIN SHIMOLIES!!!!!
this is going to be vod very soon and no bloody wonder. i am not into trials, im more of a dh man, but this video blew me away. it is so much bettter than the old one. such a nice edit and such good riding. ive watched it 5 times today already! concrete circus was gooood!
Years back, Ryan Leech rode a train track and 180'd to the other, and he rode that chain. Incredible. In his vid, there was this big build-up to these ultimate stunts, and rightfully so. Mr. Macaskill seems to do these things almost routinely now. Where can this sport go from here? Danny rides "Inspired." Now I ride "Depressed." Stay healthy, Danny.
Concrete Circus was well good last night. I reckon Danny's vid was the best, but that skateboarding dude was pretty insane. Go on MEGASKILL!!! This has to be VOD!!! It is Epic!!!
It's funny how all the people commenting aren't trials riders (not to mention noobs to the sport of cycling, let alone trials) and saying this "rope riding" is revolutionary....Ryan Leech rode on a wire years ago, as he also rode on train tracks doing blind 180's, etc. All of this stuff is fairly old news, and the guys who were spot on got all the negs. The riding is and video are pretty good, but there's nothing really new, other than the fact the riding is MASSIVE. This post isn't meant to take away from his video or riding at all, but a lot of you kids really need to watch some older OG vids to really know where his riding is coming from; most of you have no effin clue wtf you're talking about.
danny macaskill : great scottish rider. not BRITTISH, hes SCOTTISH! people make that mistake all the time calling people from scotland that are good, british, yet if they are shit, they are classed as scottish. hes not brittish, but scottish. born on the isle of skye in SCOTLAND!
His first video was amazing enough.....how he's progressed from there is truly mind boggling. This guy is unbelievable on a bike. Glad he's all healed up and ripping again!
phenomenal riding as usual - would've been good to see a few outtakes too! The only thing missing was watching someone smash that f'ing song to bits with a large hammer - the most annoying sounds ever associated with great riding.
Danny MacAskill videos are produced for more than just the bike community to get into, his past videos have been played on public tv/ news for their sheer amazingness. So you might wanna hear some metal or whatever in bike videos? The general public are watching it too, and it wouldnt help the sport having anything hard over the video...
good points. I'm certainly not espousing Pantera for all videos. I actually like the genre of this song and agree a mainstream song is needed for the vid. to appeal to a mainstream audience. I just happen to find these particular vocals grating enough to detract from the riding, which seemed polar in comparison. @crazy..., I will check some other stuff out - I've heard that he's mypod-worthy.
ok so he can flip on a jump that is essentially a skinny, I predict the next "new thing he does" is flip off a jump composed of a thick (or thin) cable, hell he might as well pull a flip off some 200lbs deep sea fishing line!!! Long live the megaskill, and all his followers
Inhuman. Never fails to entertain me watching danny's videos. Anyone else think this is a really pretty location too. Would love to have a chance to play around in somewhere like that
The colours are UNREAL! That is what i enjoyed most about this film. The biking was pretty cool too!
That train is the perfect playground for Mr. McAskill!
amazing riding and some great camera angles/editing.. nice work! ....am i the only one who thought willy wonka was going to walk through that gate at the beginning?
He's way too good. If they had put those tricks in a computer game a few years ago I'd say it was too far fetched. I agree with Jake above....Ryan leech who
I love how he fell off the rope when he tried to walk across it, but then can do it no problem on his bike. such a sick video, mad props to Danny for that one

It;s an amazing video, no need to bring other sports into it...
He makes everything else look a little bit mundane.....

No, it's not trails, it's TRIALS.
Great vid. It's nice to see a Trials rider getting some attention for once.
People need to learn to get along, we can have different opinions.
