The crew at Deity are proud to announce the official launch of the anticipated Cameron Zink signature handlebar, the CZ38 Special. A relationship born in 2005, Cameron Zink has faced countless adversity, injuries, surgeries, podiums, titles, championships, and a constant theme throughout all of these years has been the mutual support and loyalty between a company and a superstar.

Take a quick Winter ride through Cameron Zink's local Reno trails on board his Deity CZ38 Special signature handlebar. Filmed/Edited by Lush Cinema

A concept that started almost two years ago, the CZ38 Special went through multiple prototypes that allowed Deity and Cameron to test various butting profiles, upsweeps, and also backsweeps. Influenced by his desire to relax the angles of his favorite handlebars, the Dirty30 and Blacklabel, the CZ38 Special’s unique “feel” comes from a half degree change in both directions. What may seem subtle can make a dramatic difference in terms of feel and the 9.5 degree backsweep and 4.5 degree upsweep give the CZ38 Special a distinctive flavor among the respected Deity handlebar line.

Deity- The Cameron Zink Signature Handlebar the CZ38 Special

bigquotesThe CZ38 project began as we were about to launch our new butting process a year and a half ago and the technology we were playing around with allowed us to dive right into making him the best handlebar possible. Right out of the gate we were posting incredible test results, but the proof would be in how it felt under Cam.

During this time, we made 3 very different prototypes that featured multiple geometry options, from slight adjustments to our butting dimensions, to new heat treatment ideas. It was an exciting time as we had redesigned all of our handlebars, expanded our potential via new tooling, and invested into researching possibilities during the heat treatment process.

I am incredibly proud of the end result, but more than anything, we are honored to be able to pay tribute to Cameron Zink with his own signature handlebar model.
- Eric Davies (Deity, Owner/Designer)

Deity- The Cameron Zink Signature Handlebar the CZ38 Special

Featuring a 38mm rise, 760mm width, and Deity’s gradient butting, the CZ38 Special was a project that evolved gracefully, was not rushed, and was tested rigorously via machine stress testing and the unrivaled effects of real world product abuse. From the acclaimed “Where the Trail Ends” to every major slopestyle comp of 2012, the CZ38 Special traveled the world as Cameron put each prototype incarnation through its paces.

Now I have it in a lightweight, stylish set up that could possibly be the strongest handlebar on the planet. - Cameron Zink

 That stealth bar........I need it!

If just the black finish is more durable on this one..
After three days in a bikepark, my old Dirty30 DH bar (2009/2010 model) looked like I had been beating dead hookers with it all day long... for a month.

That was f funny Big Grin

All of our handlebars are bead blast and polished anodized (except our white bars) which is infinitely more durable than powdercoat alone. We used to only offer powdercoated handlebars years ago, but we switched to ano in 2010....
  • + 1
Good to know. It sounds like the finish has been improved a lot! I absolutely love the graphics on theese, so I might go for a Deity bar again when my PRO or Renthal dies.
  • + 4
and, they're shot peened for added hardness, by Cam Zink himself!! (per the opening sequence.. )
  • + 2
 loving the width and colors
  • + 1
any one know how much? sorry if I missed it when I was reading but I didn't see so if someone knows and wants to help out it would be much appreciated
  • - 2
 i need 780 mm minimum..
  • + 2
 $95 MSRP

Might be the first time since the Kyle Strait knee guards that I'd buy a signature series product straight out, just because of the rider, and test it myself, and let the chips fall, as it were... Those colorways are pretty snazzy too!
  • + 3
Imagine if they made some rims with those colors and design. That would make my day if they did.
  • + 4
Paint cannot be chipped by the beating of dead hookers. It is simply an urban legend disproven countless times in the lab.
  • + 44
i hope it's not made from zink

 Zink or Zinc?
  • + 18
both spellings of zink can be used.... you sir don't get it
  • + 16
 310 g... lightweight? Razz
  • + 13
Well I know the last thing I want when Im front-flipping a drop is a snapped handlebar Wink
  • + 7
... good for 760mm wide with a rise.
  • + 8
Before people complain on sizes / weighs / bar geometry, stop and remember this is a SIGNATURE SERIES bar... its what the named pro rider likes... and for the fanboys who want to setup their bikes exactly like their heroes... its not meant for everybody.
  • + 5
38mm rise is perfect for nowadays super short head tubes, it just puts it in normal position, but why only 760mm? You can always cut it down, but you can't add the width. So please just make 800mm, and we know how to use hex saw...
  • + 1
 just get renthals
  • + 26
 800mm is overkill
  • + 9
I've got Renthal FatBars and they are the best bars I have tried. Legit way to go.
  • + 1
i just got some 32" raceface atlas stealth bars and they are pretty fresh
  • + 0
Have the stealth Atlas bars too..normal ergonomics, good fit. But I agree, 760mm for me is too short. Around 800mm-780mm seems to be the standard for DH bars.
  • + 6
30" is too short? Since when? This is a slopestyle/freeride bar... not a race bar. It would be so hard to barspin or x-up a 32"+ bar. For this bar 760mm is perfect...
  • + 2
You are absolutely right, but it's nice to have the option to cut them down. And if they are made for Cam, they are as durable as race bars, making them great alternative.
  • + 3
I've just bended my handlebar in the garage by about half a degree. They now have the 'special' factor. They are 4 years old but only at $95 USD for those interested Wink
  • + 1
I have the 31.5" atlas bars and honestly the width feels amazing for ripping around and whips and being styley but for tricks and throwing the bike around a little shorter would be nice, thinking of cutting mine to 29.5"
  • + 5
@kovaldesign You bent your bars? You've probably put a weak spot in the metal... personally I wouldn't ride that.
  • + 3
 A) They are designed to be rugged.
B) They are not designed for Joe Lo-Pro racer guy.
C) Signature series.....think about it... It is what CZ (most should call him "Sir") called out for the specs.
  • + 5
red ones for me please !!!!
  • + 1
Love Deity....Love Cam ! The man getting much deserved respect from a signature series.......Props !!! I have been using Deity products since they first opened there doors, stems, handlebars, cranks, bottom brackets, seat posts....never once let me down, and some of my old stuff is still in use !
  • - 1
 "their doors" actually....
  • + 4
Ok - you won the spelling bee! Well done chap.
  • + 2
After I posted the original post I happened to see my misspelled "there"...Thanks though.
  • + 5
Stealth is looking good! im thinking thats going on my bike !
  • + 1
After running 780mm bars anything narrower is just wrong, I agree with Eurospek! I only run 780mm+ wide bars on any bike I ride/own, wether it be my FR/DH bike or my singlespeed rigid mtb. I'm not hating on these bars, they are sick, I would just feel funny running them... YMMV Big Grin
  • + 1
That last descent was just SUPER!! Was he really that high up on that mountain? He was so small when he reached the road... oh this article was about the bars Smile Black on black looks very nice.
  • + 4
I am going to get some, and paint them metal flake gold. Just cause.
  • + 0
easton havoc carbon. 230 grams, much stronger and stiffer, plus better feel. maybe its 60 bucks more but is 60 bucks really that big of a deal when most bikes are 3k or more? not seeing why companies even make alum bars anymore. if someone is really on a budget there are plenty out there on the used market for a lot less than 100 bucks
  • + 2
Carbon doesn't last as long, and there's no way I'd buy used carbon.....
  • + 2
Oh god a carbon bar would ware fast. Pro riders replace carbon parts less than a year. But I still trust carbon. Any bike part made from any material will break over time!
  • + 1
i wasnt talking about buying used carbon. but you could if you want to. i have some very old easton bars that are scratched and chipped to hell and they are still strong, and the way carbon is being made now theres no telling how long they will last. i accidentaly cracked my first easton haven bar by tightening it too tight in the wrong stem. unknowingly i went out and hit many 10ft plus hits to not good landings and it held up fine. ive since replaced the bar but none the less modern carbon has completely replaced alum in my book.
  • + 3
They are a mighty fine looking set of bars...
  • + 3
Mhm...i hear a lot of pimpin atmosphere here...
  • + 1
anyone knows which wheels he i riding?they are obviously mavic ones but as far as i know mavic doesnt offer complete black wheelsets
  • + 2
they look sick! now I just have to find an application for them, too narrow for dh (I'm tall) too strong for am
  • + 1
well bars can never be to strong, maybe just unnecessary
  • + 1
strong=heavy though... unless their carbon but with the amount of crashes I've put into my slayer carbon bars aren't such a great idea
  • + 2
Way to go deity for not making us completely break the bank on these! Only $95?!? Loving it.
  • + 1
I have been waiting for these since Sea Otter last year! I may even cut them down to 740Smile
  • + 2
How 'anticipated' can the launch of a handlebar be?
  • + 2
I love how he paints the snow with dirt in the last shot.
  • + 1
Me likey. Make more sense on the bike I want to own than the bike I own, but prolly one day...
  • + 0
Waited all my life for these bars!!!!!so just take my money and hand me my CZ38!!!!!!!!DEITY & UNSPRUNG match made in heaven......
  • + 2
The bike legend Cam Zink walked into a bar...
  • + 1
 Ouch. End plugs.
  • + 2
OMG, He shot a gun at the beginning, the LIBS are gonna freak!
  • + 3
 Will it make me faster?!
  • + 2
Wow, that bar looks pretty fukcing cool!
  • + 1
thanks Deity and cam for new bars that I need after watching! I love the tahoe/reno area for riding!
  • + 1
can you guys in here tell me what rise is better for cornering/ dh enduro?
  • + 1
depends on you, your size, the bike. Lower is more racey, letting you naturally put more weight on the front wheel, higher is more comfortable (generalizing here).
Wider is more stable and reduces the chances of front wheel tuck. Too wide for your shoulder width is uncomfortable and can increase the chances of shoulder and elbow pains. But you can always cut a bar down never increase it.
If you've come from skinny bars, they are like TV's unless they feel too big to begin with they are not big enough.
Rise and Sweep angles are something you just get used to realistically all similar bars are within a couple of degrees and you'll quickly acclimatize to what you get.
DH enduro 780mm or 760mm is a good start, I run 760mm's for my bikes.
  • + 1
 760mm is the new 710mm

Too bad shipping to SA is more than 2/3 the price of the bars. Bar $95, shipping $65.
  • + 1
dialdbikes.co.za just got 'em, if you're still looking...
  • + 3
 sex bars
  • + 2
How to test a part.....Shoot it with a shotgun!!!!
