Remember the section in NWD where they floated around San Francisco Harbor on barge with dirt jumps? Brandon Semenuk was part of that, and coincidentally he just won Jump Ship in Victoria. Dirt Jumps on a barge again. That's where the similarity really ends though, because while they both featured floating dirt jumps they were really entirely different creatures. The Hell Barge featured in NWD was a giant barge with huge jumps that was pushed around San Francisco Harbor by a couple of tugboats, while the guys were riding. Or trying to ride a lot of the time. As the Hell Barge was moved around it pitched and yawed a bit as boats tend to do, and that combined with the wind made everything a little interesting. Imagine hitting a lip and being blown a little in the air, only to look down and see the landing moving sideways away from you. Hell Barge was like that, and while there was a bit of wind that affected the riders on the Jump Ship, it didn't move at all. It was also a fair bit smaller, and was designed as a contest course on a smallish budget, while Hell Barge was a big budget film set, designed to look great while being filmed from a helicopter.
But I'm digressing a little from the news at hand. Brandon Semenuk won today, Mike Montgomery was a close second, and Mitch Chubey was third.
