Feb 6, 2013
by Stacy Karacostas
On Saturday night, January 26th 2013, Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance hosted their first ever Winter Stoke Party and Dirt Junkie MTB Video & Photo Contest. The evo store in Seattle was filled to capacity with just over 200 people and a stellar time was had by all!

The kegs were flowin’, folks won sweet prizes in the auction and raffles, and everyone voted for their favorite photo and video. Plenty of wintertime mountain bike stoke was generated along the way. By popular vote...

The Dirt Junkie Video Contest winners were:

1st Place - Walter Yi with Hoar Frost:

3rd Place - Jack Anderson with Lukas at Duthie:

Walter won a Roam video camera from Contour; Jasper won a 2013 Platypus Duthie 17 hydration pack; and Jack won Platypus Origin 3 hydration pack. Plus all three winners get a stylish Evergreen t-shirt!

The Dirt Junkie Photo Contest winners were:

1st Place - Randall Foster with his beautiful image Tokul Horseshoe:
1st Place Winner in the Dirt Junkie MTB Video amp Photo Contest

2nd Place - Robert Britschgi with Pilcheck Tree Farm Sunset:
2nd Place Winner Dirt Junkie MTB Video amp Photo Contest

3rd Place - Chad Black with Andrew Jansma on the Duthie Big Tree line:
3rd Place Winner in the Dirt Junkie MTB Video amp Photo Contest

Randall won a ½ day of one-on-one instruction in mountain bike photography in 2013 with Colin Meagher of In Motion Photography www.inmotionphoto.com; Robert won a 2013 Platypus Duthie 17 hydration pack, and Chad won a Platypus Origin 3 hydration pack. Plus all three winners get a hip & sexy Evergreen t-shirt!

HUGE thanks to everyone who entered the photo & video contests - and to everyone who bought bike raffle tickets or came out to the party. Evergreen raised approximately $7000 in net proceeds - all of which will go towards Evergreen’s Education Program and Washington Student League for middle school and high school age kids. Nice work everyone!

Finally, a big shout out to all the party sponsors (Contour, Diamondback Bicycles, Platypus, New Belgium) and all those who donated items to the silent auction including The Lumberyard, Rain City Spirits, Stevens Pass Bike Park, and more. Most especially our thanks go out to the fine folks at evo for providing such a stellar venue for the party!

If you couldn't make it this year, there's always next year. So check out this year’s winning entries. Then start shooting those photos and videos now, and plan to be at the next Winter Stoke Party in January 2014.

I like the way you think sir...

It's because they mentioned Evergreen in the video.

+1 for Jervis, my thoughts exactly...

Does anybody know the song for the second place video
  • 1 0
2nd vid's song was 'Dirty paws' by Of monsters and men.
And yep 2nd vid for me + 2nd Photo. The title 'MTB photo contest' should've been enough to warrant a 'MTB' within the picture.

The first place photo kind of sucks because there is no riding in it. Dont hate on me for saying it because I know its what everyones thinking

Second Place photo > First Place photo. First place feels average, the second one makes me want to go out and have an adventure on my bike with a great group of friends.

i thot the last one was better than all them haha

Just so y'all know, the audience at Evergreen's Winter Stoke Party voted for best video. So as far as we know any mentions of Evergreen had no bearing on which video was chosen. That means next year y'all will just have to come out and vote. :-)

The third place photo is mine. It is not stolen. Not sure why anyone would say that? Check out the rest of the photos from that session on my photo page.

Alright in the third video, I've ridden every trail at Duthie at least 30 times, and I can't tell what trails he's on!
