Disco Down: racing in a club!

Disco Down 2011 - presented by Thirty7even from Aktion Schotterflechte on Vimeo.

Never seen before in Holland: 16 pro mountainbike and BMX riders competing against each other in a club. The trail started on the top floor, went through the corridors, down the stairs, with a jump over a beer unit and finished on the dance floor.

The audience was astonished with the skills the riders showed. It took a lot of guts, speed and technique. In the end Jelle van der Elzen won the competition. He was the fastest rider over two timed runs.

Joost Wichman (3rd at the Worlds Four Cross 2011) designed the track and invited the riders. It was the first big event organized by his new company Thirty7even. More demos, clinics and riding camps will follow next year, and it will be likely that the concept of Disco Down will go on tour.

I thought people stopped fast forwarding dh vids since Search for the Holy Trail?

and that seemed a tad too tight for a dh race... I'm sure there's a mall in the area they can hit up Wink

Where did they say it was a down hill race?

I'm sorry, I was legitimately asking. I have no idea why you're so incredibly offended. You should relax.

Well I figured it was you being a dummy because what else would you call a race that has single runs, descends in elevation and lasts a couple of minutes? There's not too many options out there...

A race down a hill =/= Downhill racing. Seriously, what is your issue man? You really need to chill.

Haha, I think you're alone on this one buddy. And yes, I'm completely freaking out on you right now Wink

What do you mean "alone on this one"? I was unaware I implied me and a group of people think the same thing about the subject. I'm really at a loss here as to why you spazzed out twice insulting me over an innocent honest question, and why you're trying to instigate an argument.

Oh, some people.

Can you kids please take your pointless argument elsewhere. thanks!

I have to admit that was really good! Makes me want to set up a little track near the old watering hole, just to see what happens!

These events are starting to pop up everywhere...mainly in Europe though. Metro stations, airports, now clubs...such a great idea!
