Drift Fork Armour

What is it:
Front fork armour which is designed to protect your fork legs from uplift and crash damage. Made from Titanium, covered with a graphic and sticks to your forks courtesy of 3Ms finest foam.
Shown here is a custom Pinkbike version kindly sent to us by George Taylor the driving force behind Drift-MTB.com The model shown here will perfectly fit RockShox Boxxers 2010 to 2012 and Domain Double Crowns. Not running 2012 Boxxers? Don't panic they have you covered literally if you are the proud owner of:
-Boxxers 2005-2009 32mm
-Fox 36
-Fox 40
-Boss Idylle

Those uplifts can be a disaster for your pride and joy, let alone binning it through that rock section. Now imagine if this was the bare fork?

The details:
First off lets fit them: Make sure your forks are nice and clean, the boys at Drift even supply you with a nice alcohol cloth (think the hand wipe you get from KFC).. Peel off the backing of the 3M foam and stick. The whole process should take no more than two minutes of your precious time.
Weight is always a factor even in downhill and these do not disappoint at a nice 104grams for the pair of Rockshox Boxxer versions.
Drifting..
The titanuim used is pure grade at 0.5mm thick, stuck to a 3m VHB foam. Dimensions are 280mm tall x 57mm wide x 1.6mm thickness.

Performance:
No need for ugly zip/cable ties here and the 3M stickyness has lasted one whole UK race season which is as good as any test in the World. That includes umpteen jet washes and they are still stead fast and look like new. After spending the best part of a grand on a pair of forks you want them to stay fresh, keep a good resale value and work faultlessly.
I never forget Interbike Demo day at Boulder Canyon having to return a SGS Ironhorse back with a left fork leg with a gaping hole after I stacked in against a jagged rock. A very rare occasion but an expensive mistake. If they were your forks then £45.00 spent would have been a great investment.
More likely is the general beating your forks will pick up over a years worth of riding and the deprecation of them. Very difficult to calculate but i'm guessing a good condition pair would at least be worth 50-100bucks more than your friends battered pair. Would you agree?

What's not to like?
Those familiar with tractor uplifts will know exactly what is required come fork protection. The Drift Fork Armour protects the main body/shaft of the fork perfectly but does leave the bottom clamping area a little exposed.

Last year we reviewed and rated the SXS Fork Protectors which do offer plenty more protection but are not as pretty.

Pinkbike's take:
The Drift Fork Armour is British made, designed and owned which is always a good start and the finish is super clean and pro looking once fitted to the bike. The weight gain is negligable and the re-sell value of my Boxxers that are scratch free has soared, unlike the current U.S economy.
To be fair i've not taken them off and don't think I ever will, would you?

The drift fork Armour is a great design and at the end of the day saves you money when coming to selling you forks on because of the top condtion of the forks, as well as looking the part at the races with many cool different coulours and designs! Cheers Drift-Mtb!

carbon effect looks pretty tacky, and will not take the hits like Drift's version. Check out my polished versions on my Bos'd makulu! www.southerndownhill.com/forum/index.php/topic,251421.0.html I've been running them for over a year now including plenty of alpine crashing! Recommended.
