In a series of aggressive moves to change the scope of its business while still maintaining some of the most cutting edge bike technologies, Ellsworth has acquired several new, high end dealers in its nationwide expansion drive. In the Pacific Northwest, Ellsworth has partnered with The Fat Tire Farm in Portland, OR, Webcyclery in Bend,OR, Burlington Custom Cycle in Burlington, WA and the Seattle REI flagship store.

They have also aggressively attacked the Texas market, partnering with the Richardson Bike Mart group, as well as Mad Duck Adventure sports in the Dallas area. Austin area dealers 360 Cycleworks and Hammerhead Bikes will cover the central part of the state.

“We have tried hard to pick the very best dealers in any given area and also to approach parts of the country like a big market so that there are synergies between dealers rather than just setting up a lonely outpost in an area.” Says Dave Wisenteiner V.P. of Sales and Marketing. “We have an aggressive follow through campaign with these dealers involving our pro athletes and our new road show so we are really looking forward to finally serving these markets in a robust and predictable manner. We have several owners in these areas but we have lacked outlets until now.” He added.

Many were surprised to see the alignment of the boutique Ellsworth brand and the outdoor super power REI. Wisenteiner commented, “The stores we are partnering on, Santa Monica and Seattle represent very particular high end markets for REI and the staffs at these stores are particularly tuned into that market. We have conducted some extensive training so the Ellsworth and Instant Center Tracking stories are properly told which should result in an excellent partnership.”
