Euro Bike - Part 2

More shiny things, more girls, more carbon, more ti-tanium, more rubber, more gossip, more girls, more girls, more flesh. Open wide kids..

Not quite sure what the deal is with Eurobike and the accommodations, it kind of sucks, big time. Or was that our planning? Seems for something like ten euros you can be in a field in a hired tent. Or bring along your own and pay pennies. Word was you could even get in a mobile caravan, hopefully a liitle more fresh and plush than my Abbey Executive 390. Look one up and await for your toes to curl.

This was actually our hotel

We knew our booked hotel was a spell away but this was a joke. The No4 bus that we were waiting for just drove on, straight past us as we stood at the dedicated stop outside the press office.

DISASTER.

Luckily there were a few "VIP" courtesy cars sponsored by Nissan and Charles Robertson our snapper needed no encouragement to get blagging, flashing his press pass and telling the driver I was Gee Atherton, we were leather seated up before you could say, "Never clip in"... Personally I thought he was thinking he was going to have to spend another night sleeping rough in the middle of the 4x course under one of the jumps.

photo

Our hotel was full of crazy art, literally just lying around, how scary was this in the hall way?

One hour later we arrived safe and sound and he wouldn't even take a tip. Next morning nearly another disaster, 07:17 and a dozen of us are at the bus stop in the town as directed by the hotel receptionist. We see the bus approach from the otherside of the road and then pull off and turn the corner. A quick 100metre sprint and a bang on the doors as luckily the bus got caught up at a red light. Result.

Michelin Comp 16 Replacement, at last!

Even Calvin Klein after what seems like an eternity should be happy about this. Michelin Wild Gripper Descents finally on show. 2.5” only so no 2.2” widths for the kids, sorry. Available in only one compund: Super Soft they are both tubeless and tube compatable. Same as the original Comp 16? You tell the difference for me.

photo

Yes, Maxxis did copy Michelin

Michelin Wild Rocker Descents are available in 2.25” and 2.5” widths and again have the same features as the above. As do the new Wild Digger or should you say Michelin Mud III? Exactly the same tread pattern, with a new compound and name.

Mr.Bibendum says the new DH bead on the Descent tyre range will stay on even if you loose air.

Riders ready, watch the lights..

Available in Medium only with milled out half shelves in Easton tubing is the bike of choice for 2007 UCI BMX World Champion Yvan Lapraz.

photo

Check those Truvativ Cranks out, trick.

Available in a medium only, milled out half shelves, Easton tubing and raced by Yvan Lapraz, 2007 BMX World Champion.

Nicolai 24inch BMX Cruiser at 999 Euros.

SRAM's Elmar Keineke's Nicolai that he piloted to 5th place 35-39 Masters Worlds at Praloup

With either 200 or 230mm of travel thanks to the adjustability options of the shock bolt mountings. 83mm BB, 150mm back end, 12mm bolt thru axle and ISCG mounts. Frame weighs in at 4.1kgs and you can have the option of adding or should I say taking off with a light kit. For a few pennies more, quite a few, you can go ti bolts (cone heads to save even more weight), ceramic coated ali axles and synthetic sliding bearings.

Nicoali ION ST

Nicolai go into much detail for you, precision engineering at its best.

Nicolai Helius with eight inches of travel and a very fancy optional extra bolt on post above the BB if you ever want to run a front mech.

Both hands where I can see them please..

You would, wouldn't you?

KMC BMX Tank T710 Chain

Ideal for all you street bandits, park and vert riders who are partial to disasters and grinding your night away. Extreme heavy duty for sure.

photo

I can see these chains going down a storm at the Euro and World Champs.

KMC Patriot Chains, limited edition to 1,000 pieces in each colour and also available in 9 and 10 speed. At some point the colours will wear away. 65 Euros is the cost, what does your passport say; Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Spanish..

Now we're talking...

photo

Made in Smethwick, less than 2 miles from my house.

Brooks Saddles have been going since 1866, any other seat manufacturer claim better than that? Let us know. This Swift saddle takes 3-4 days to make by skilled craftsmen and shouldn't take too many waxes and long rides to wear in. You haven't sat down unless you have sat on a Brooks saddle.

WTB Aviator Saddle priced at sixty U.S dollars

Personally I wasn't sold on the Carhart style material option, didn't want it absorbing the wet stuff and keeping my ass damp. Want pressure relief for your ass? Plenty of extra flex and comfort from the gel pads.

photo

Comes with strong freeride/DH 8mm steel rails, just note 7mm is usually the standard.

WTB Silverado Lopes Limited Edition Saddles

Priced around $150US you will be running with the Syndicate, Jamis, Barel and plenty of other top boys. Only 500 made in each colour, ti-rails, italian leather and graphics.

photo

Tioga Spyder Twin Rail Saddle

Stunning style, not sure how practical or strong as I have seen a few of these on the hill slightly mashed up shall we say.
Carbonite shell
135grams
Available in Black, White, Brown and Red.

photo

Tim Flooks and his wife Helen have one of these but in last years red

MSC Zion Tandem, I would tell you more but the guys on the stand walked off.

Cannondales Hooligan

Not quite sure if this was a concept bike as it zipped around the show we caught it for a moment to show you.

please tell me why you would call a fox fork "crappy"

and the linkage looks similar to the marin quad links???
  • 11 6
A 160mm fox fork will perform better on a dh course than most 7" or 8" lower end forks
  • 11 2
fox is the highest quality for as far as shocks go, if anyone believes that fox is "crappy". they are shitty
