Jay Boysen is the 2012 Senior Men's BC Cup Series Champion. He's from a small Island, population 4000, that became infamous when Drop-In did a segment with Dangerous Dan there. They showcased how fun taking your hands off the bars on a skinny can be, way back when. Jay has been living the dream, secluded on Bowen with little to distract him.
The trail network on Bowen is quite linear, not to say there aren't a lot of trails, but the line they take down the mountain seems to stay quite tightly knit. Jay and I pulled up to an ominous yellow gate, unloaded the gear, and set out up the hill. I had no idea what to expect and Jay knew I'd be stoked as soon as we hit the trailheadā¦ I was. A great day in the mountains was about to unfold as it always does.
Jay Boysen is riding for Evil Bikes this season, and can be seen racing pro class at this season's BC Cup Series.
For those of us lucky to be apart of it the mid-late 90's was a wicked time to be growing up on the north shore and owning a mtn bike. Back then there wasn't transitions, not that it mattered because you didn't dare going that fast anyway what with the V-brakes and crap tire options available for the always wet conditions.
What Dan and Digger did put mountain biking and the north shore on the map, and led the way for big bikes and big suspension. so you can knock it, but it was all part of the evolution.

I substituted the music with a song by Helmet "In the Meantime"...Now I want to go slay a trail
