World premiere of New Clay Porter Movie - F1RST

Dec 15, 2007
by Tyler Maine
Clay Porter and Distinction Productions are proud to announce that the World Premiere of F1RST will take place on Friday, April 18, 2008, in Monterey, California. The World Premiere takes place during the week of the Sea Otter Classic, and will get underway at 8pm at the majestic Golden State Theatre.F1RST is the highly anticipated follow up to the 2007 runaway success "Between The Tape", and like BTT is a documentary, about the sport of downhill mountain bike racing and specifically the 2007 World Cup Series. FIRST was shot in stunning locations all over the world including South Africa, Australia, and from the USA to Eastern Europe and the UK. The feature length movie highlights the world's greatest downhill racers both on and off the course, praising their race abilities and nudging them into candid interviews about their lives and their first experiences with the sport. F1RST breaks new ground in documenting the extreme and comparatively young sport of downhill mountain bike racing, and does so with a depth and intensity not seen in the sport.

Porter's directorial vision has taken F1RST to another level. The images captured throughout 2007 are simply remarkable. Featuring the stars of the sport such as Sam Hill, Steve Peat, Greg Minnaar and the accomplished Atherton family, the film also taps into the lesser known world behind the scenes of mountain bike racing, and some equally remarkable athletes who are about to explode onto the scene; their back-story is fascinating.

To date, the film has already received financial support from the bike industry; in particular Fox Racing Shox, Santa Cruz Bicycles, Troy Lee Designs, decline Magazine, adidas eyewear, FUNN Mountain Bike Components, and e.thirteen Components.

The World Premiere is a ticketed event with limited seating, and tickets will be available prior to the show on-line, as well as at the door. Regional premieres will follow world-wide. Promoters interested in hosting a regional premiere of F1RST need to contact 23 Degrees Sports Management for a license application.
