It glitch at same time (around 21min) so it is video file bugged, not the PB servers.
Anyway movie is great!
They've made much better mini movies than this and frankly £10 on Itunes for this 35 minutes of footage is too expensive!
2: Is the same director of 《strength in numbers》? I look forward to this movie for a long time, and i bought it from appstore at first time;but it did not give me any excitement and emotion...
3: Too short... So much heros only 35 min...
Public Enemy fit with Logan's segment so perfectly, and in fact was probably my favourite song of the movie.
And I don't know what planet you're from dirtjumper, Nikki Minaj ain't Hip-Hop. Jurassic 5 is Hip-Hop. Naughty by Nature is Hip-Hop. A Tribe Called Quest is Hip-Hop. Public Enemy is Hip-Hop. Nikki Minaj is Pop.
And "Hip Hop ani't pop, if you call it that then stop," in the words of Q-tip
But I will agree, the movie was too short
Im not gonna comment on "too much british columbia" becouse this argument is just silly (COASTAL Crew people!!! where do you want them to ride? in Egypt?)
Too much camera goodness- how the hell too good filming can be a bad thing? What is wrong with you people?
Too much slowmo? for me only in first Brasil segments, every other was just perfect.
I also really enjoyed dynamic cut of segments with fast transition between them, it was so intense and fast and full of rad&awesome&flow&sideways i barely could breathe
And music... well also huge dissapointment for me for one reason- I knew and loved almost every song in this movie for some time already and my "get stoked" bikeplaylist wont get much updated But it was soo nice to hear music I like in movie I liked
Massive props for first segment, perfect filming, perfect edit, stunning riding and flow (and if these trails were not rough then what the heck rough means? i bet most complainers would have issues to get to the bottom ) I didnt believe that coastal crew can outstand first segment from From Inside Out but they did and they blew my mind.
Only thing i hated was GOD DAMNED GLITCH in first Brasil part i guess thats the only reason I didnt fully enjoyed this segment
It's stupid to hate on different music, different editing, different riding you wolud like to see, like in every other movie, why everything must look the same? If they put indie and rock with some mellow electro I bet haters would still hate but saying "meeeh, same music like always give me something new". So you got something new, now grow up.
All hail Coastal Crew! these guys are ahead of everyone else in mtb business in every single aspect of what they do.
Deffinetly I do not like the kind of "music" used in this movie...
Pros:
- the movie contains some very well shot actions, the framing and the shots are perfectly executed
- some songs are well chosen
- riders are very stylish and fast
- trails are perfectly shaped
- Norb was sending it
- Logan Peat's segment is one of the nicest DJ edit I've seen for a while, very smooth and stylish
- it's good to see Ropelato shred Whistler, I always like to see a WC racer pin it in bike parks
- we could watch it for free
Cons:
- the movie is too short
- it's a purely American movie (trails, riders, bikes...), as if the world were only two continents
- there are too many slow motions
- some songs are terrible
- most of the trails are smooth and wide, I would have liked more freeride and hardcore DH tracks
- the movie lacks big natural jumps/drops
- almost "Demos only"
- the part in Whistler when they show how drunk they are because they are cool guys is just lame
- the yougster (Matty Miles) who rides in t-shirts because he is a cool guy and cried when he crashed was quite ridiculous
- Stevie Smith's segment was not as good as expected, I would have prefered to see him shred a gnarly DH track
In a nutshell, Arrival is a remarkable mountain bike film with some shortcomings.
- I'm not blaming Miles because he crashed and cried, I'm blaming the fact he was riding with almost no protection and hurt himself. Period.
- the fact that the Coastal Crew is sponsored by Specialized obviously means we'll see a lot of Demos, but there could have been more guest riders who are not sponsored by Specialized (just like B. Cruz and S. Smith).
Now, I don't ask anyone to agree with this opinion.
Sorry if spelling ain't perfect..
Yes we know whistlers totally bitching to the power gnar man! Yes we know cranking up the saturation in post prod makes it look... well... the same as all the other films.
just a bit over that scene.
too much macho whistler bro-ness. we need some less misogynistic, murica type dudes in mountain biking now. Kinda wanna know what these guys are thinking or at least know that they are thinking more than bike, beer, how does my hair look, did you get that slowmo of me putting my goggles on?
surely riding is about more that that?
turned it off two thirds through. at least I didn't waste any money on it. Sorry guys. 3/10 must try harder.
Better, more varied and more interesting music.
More variety of shots.
Don't do fast pans through dense trees and couple it with overly fast editing - all you can see is trees.
Don't include multiple behind the camera shots in what is supposed to be a feature film, it kills the flow.
Don't charge the price of a full film for a 28 min web edit.
Have an online premiere that actually works.
Show some subtlety when endlessly sneaking sponsor shots in.
Why take Steve Smith to Brazil??? Seems random
This for starts;
mpora.com/videos/pNr30kwt9
But as mentioned above if you take the slomo roosting a corner/ scrubbing a fern, from fifty different angles, removed the slow pan shots of trees and played this footage at normal speed you'll find that what you have is a five min web edit. same as life cycles. Its all very pretty but Id rather watch fast mountain bikers my self.
Im just saying that all this big money canadian video stuff is ok but I prefer less slick and more action. Like bmx videos or skate films. Less stuff for media students. more stuff for riders. And ditch the shit soundtrack.
DemoB can you give more than a teenage "oh yea well you do better then" argument for why this film is better?
The first 21 minutes were pretty rad though and I also liked the music.
but well it was worth it haha
The title of the music ? (2 :30 min) please
Awesome film!
@matthewreeves13 believe me in a couple of decades you will realize your extra trees were not extra at all
For me mrb is about con ecting back with nature for a change. Enjoying trails not destroying them. Just my two cents. Happy trails even if that sounds old school!
Amazing video!
We have these trees. We call them Western Red Cedar. They live to be over a thousand years sometimes. The tree has so much natural creosote that the bacteria and insects do not eat the tree. We have standing dead Cedars that probably died centuries ago. These trees"dead snags" are the ultimate building material.
Trees are oxygen factories so yeah they are pretty important.
Happy trails
