The Island Cup series is underway and there are two more great events to hit up in the coming weeks. Nanaimo will be hosting a DH event this coming Sunday and then on the 22nd, they will be hosting an XC event as well. Have a read to learn more about each event.
Sunday April 15:
Nanaimo hosts the first DH of 2007 at Doumont. Racers should be all warmed up from the Super D and ready to tackle the new DH course in Nanaimo. The course starts on Close Encounters and then on to What's Its Name and finishes off on Kiera. This course is fast and flowy with some sweet technical sections.
Registration is at 9 a.m. on Weigles road just up from the Motocross
Track. Racers need a membership from a Vancouver Island based cycling club (can be purchased at the race). The race costs $15 and shuttles
are $10 and will start hauling bikes and riders to the top of the course at 9 a.m.
Reminder that full face helmets are mandatory - Protect your melon!
To get there:
From the island highway turn on the northern Jinglepot Rd exit. Take an immediate right onto Biggs Rd, which will turn into Weigles Rd. Follow this road to the end of the pavement, just past the motocross track you will find registration.
