FOX Racing Shox is proud to announce their World Championship Limited Edition 40 RC2 Fork and DHX RC4 Rear Shock will be made available for sale in a run of just 200 individually numbered units. In June, 2008 at Val di Sole, Italy history was made when sister and brother Rachel and Gee Atherton of team Animal-Commencal rode to dual victories in the World Championship Downhill race riding FOX’s 40 RC2 and DHX RC4.The 40 RC2 limited edition has the same damping that was tested, tuned and won on throughout the season. Its performance characteristics are designed specifically to be pushed at the highest level of competition and comes stock with a stiffer Titanium spring than the 2009 production model. Race Manager Mark Fitzsimmons tested with FOX’s top Downhillers throughout the season to tune both the fork and shock for ultimate, winning performance. “The harder these products are ridden, the more rewarding the ride becomes,” stated Fitzsimmons.

The DHX RC4 is a new from-the-ground-up, purpose built downhill shock specifically engineered to meet the demands of the world’s most brutal downhill courses and the athletes that dominate them. External adjustments for velocity sensitive damping and position sensitive ending stroke control act independently of one another allowing the rider to dial in the perfect balance of small bump compliance/traction, dynamic control, and big hit absorption. The World Champion version has been tuned and tweaked throughout the season to perform at the highest World Cup level of competition to give the aggressive rider the extra edge for winning performance.

“These Limited Edition products are the culmination of hundreds of hours of testing and working with our Engineers, Race Support Team and Athletes. Our Race program is not just a Marketing effort, we work year round with the World’s best athletes to develop and improve our products so that we can win World Championships and ultimately deliver products to the end consumer that are best in class,” said Mario Galasso VP of FOX’s Bike division.

The Limited Edition World Champion 40 RC2 and DHX RC4 will be available mid December. Lucky owners will find trading cards with Rachel and Gee’s photos and statistics in the package as well as videos of their winning runs on the Limited Edition owner’s manual CD. Along with the Limited Edition product decals there are also tuning decals on the product to keep track of the owner’s preferred settings. Inquire at your favorite dealer for availability and price.

THESE LIMITED EDITION PRODUCTS ARE THE CULMINATION OF HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF TESTING AND WORKING WITH OUR ENGINEERS, RACE SUPPORT TEAM AND ATHLETES.”

wow i feel ripped off why didn't i get any trading cards with my 40. or a nice dvd,or maybe a stick of bubble gum. does fox think were all racer geeks, just make all our forks and rear shocks top notch do not fuc around we ride fox because its the best, then they pull this shit so some racer geek can say check my fancy fork you will never have. it seem,s sram does not do this they just put out the good product and go with it for all to have.

personally I'm never dealing with fox again... upon trying to order a dhx5 air, I got an rp23 in the mail the next week. called them, told'em what was up, returned the rp23, got the dhx5 air..... then about a week later i got another dhx5. called fox back, told them they sent me another shock I didn't order, they told me to send it back. Great, mess taken care of, right? wrong... the next week I get my bank statement and they charged me for the rp23 and the 2 dhx5's. this has now been a 3 month long issue dealing with fox to take the charges off of my account,

am i the only one who thinks 'so what'?? about this stuff? i mean, so what if fox can make some expensive limited edition gear that most people here will never even see?
  • 2 4
no you're not. based on what they are saying, the forks and shock are valved to the Athertons' specs, for their riding style, and their bikes.
  • 8 4
ya and no one here is gee atherton so who the fuck cares if there built to his spec an riding style. i sure as hell dont ride like atherton so why pay more money for some different looking graphics then the ones that come on the normal 40s
  • 7 3
 Real nice forks and shock.
But in fairness we can customise our own forks to our style and taste.
Like they do this for atherton.. but we customise for ourselves Big Grin

It's called "creativity" ...right? Smile
  • 6 2
yeah this limited edition stuff is just another marketing ploy. just put the championship stripes on it to say hey, this fork won a world cup and sell it...for the same price. i mean, if it's mostly valving that's the improvement, why not just update the valving based on the research done with the Athertons, but with settings that will allow most of the population to use it effectively, and sell a better fork to the masses, because this limited edition will probably be considerably more expensive than the standard fork and shock.

FINALLY!!! people with brains who arnt as obliviously ignorant as others my say
  • 4 1
The DHX RC4 is more again of dboden above, the particularly built sloping impact, which is implemented specifically, around the demands of the world' to satisfy; s most rough sloping courses and the athletes, which control it. Independently of mutually absorption of the speed and end attack expensive act of the position sensitive the passenger permitting external adjustments for sensitive to select in the perfect balance of the small impact observance/the traction power, the dynamic control and the success absorption. The world champion version was co-ordinated during the season and pinched, in order to accomplish on the highest Weltcupniveau of the competition to give to the competitive passenger the edge of extra for attractive achievement

 thats awesome!

this propping pisses me off..if someone wants to say something why the f*ck shud u tell them it's bullshit!? its ther problem! ther the retards!

ha here come the negative props...
  • 4 3
BTW your commencal dealer is going to hate me for this. But go and bug em for the world cup edition supreme dh if you want to blow 7grand on a bike. It comes with both the limited fork and shock, along with a limited edition frame and full high end spec. Its essentially a repainted atherton edition commencal.
  • 1 0
 ^^ good idea,

because the fork and shock are probably gonna cost that much anyway.

In my opinion, this is a marketing FAIL. Trading cards?! WTF were they thinking.
  • 1 0
 OK.
1. Some people prefer 40's to Boxxers and vice versa. No one cares what you personally think.
2. These are NOT just 40's with a paint job - do some research!
3. Yes they cost more - if you don't like what they charge, design your own bloody fork or go out riding (instead of going on the internet) and get sponsored!
  • 4 0
if you're not the uci world champ, you have no business running the WC stripes.
  • 3 0
i'm pretty interested in seeing if rachel could offer a little hands on personal touch autograph session on my compression rod. It's really the only way to know if her damping element is set to handle the rough kind of ride i'd put her through if she came and rode with the big boy. it'd probably leave her sure that 40mm might never again be enough for her.
  • 2 1
40's are great if you like replacing your seals every other weekend
for real. they don't even have a real "seal" just dust wipers. great if you've got a team mechanic. or maybe not even. because cam mcauls 40's at crankworx were pissing oil everywhere.
  • 1 1
so fox is basically saying, unless you have mega cash flow, you cant get the best we have to offer. but you can still spend alot of money on our regular products. we only give our best 200 parts at a time. awesome, thanks fox. and wow really a trading card?
  • 3 3
you guys are idiots you don't see rockshox selling there black box kit to even just a few people and why are people saying the 2010 boxxers are amazing YOU HAVEN'T ridden them and if they are so good why didn't Sam hill do that well on them this year and Athertons on fox ruled yer ok they are pro and your not i doubt any of you have ridden you bike to the full potential any way. you've not getting what they ride anyway ever picked a pro's bike up they are half they weight of normal ones so are there forks this isn't what the athertons have ridden there equipment is on the next level

ya both boxxers and 40s are great forks it just depends on your riding style. if you want a fork for mainly downhill, id go with the 40 if you want a fork for some downhill and freeride id go with the boxxer but hey, thats just my opinion.
  • 2 1
i didnt wanna start a war between the 40 and the boxxer. im just saying ide rather save up for the new boxxer wc, then get the atherton sig. fork
  • 1 0
Looks sick. The DHX RC4 will be the best DH shock there has ever been. As a Rockshox fan, I would still have the BoXXer over the 40, But My God the Fox is sexy.
  • 0 0
sick adjustments on the rc4,it has now dual speed compression(DSC).Those adjustments where only be found on there podium X and Float X Evol shocks.Good they now have a 14mm thick shaft so that makes it stronger.
  • 0 1
Looks like 2009's gonna be a pretty exclusive year what with the new Dorados, the Limited Ed. WC 40's and the new Boxxers - I'd still choose Fox over Rockshox any day as you just don't know what excellence is until you've ridden Fox forks! That RC4 shock just looks the same as the Vivid and Elka shocks though.
  • 0 0
Thats a good point, I would much rather own an Elka, over a DHX that is...
BTW the Vivid has Hi/Lo rebound and one compression. The DHX RC4 and Elka have Hi/Lo compression and one rebound so they aren't comparable really....
  • 0 0
you forgot about the revox witch has also hi/low speed compression and than you have the latest X fusion DH shock witch has a hi/low speed compression with 1 knob!!!.
  • 0 0
Thank you for mentioning the two shocks that nobody will ever buy......
  • 2 3
 Hey konaclump70005
if you call someone an idiot for not using spellcheck, you should at least know the difference between your and you're. who's the real idiot? too bad spellcheck doesn't pick up $hi++y grammar.
  • 2 1
its cool i understand from your profile your just some pissed fox fan who had their brand put down. but anyways thanks for first comment on anything.. ever...
  • 1 2
it's "you're just some pissed fox fan" not "your just some pissed fox fan".
if you want to call someone out because they can't spell, learn to do so yourself first.

Hey your right there if you dont like the forks then dont duy them or moan about them if i was going to race i would go for rockshox and for extreme freeride fox 40's
  • 0 1
i'm gonna have to agree with knife-in-the-dark on this one buddy

bit off topic, but all the comments posted are centred instead of reading to the right from a fixed point at the left if you get me? thats new lol. maybe my computer is just f*cked

maybe you should be on an i love my computer forum not pinkbike. We don't have time for your damn computer problems ok. this is some serious bike nerd crap going on

fox shocks are hella nice i don't see why everyone is hatin on em
  • 0 0
same, i have been using them for years and i love them, would never chance to a different brand, EVER!
  • 1 0
How much are both of those?
  • 2 1
RIP OFF, anyone who buys this is a mug
  • 0 0
No, it's more adjustable then you're average item, and no-one in the UK will be buying one since the UK's alloted amount has already been sold to team riders and staff.
  • 1 1
Look if anyone actually read up on the fork instead of just posting shite they made up you would see:
Different compression tune - harder than std. This is very differnt to a stock 40.

And how can you complain about the price when you don't know what they cost!?!
  • 1 1
You probably notice, I can, i'm sure others can too... Stop treating pro riders like the God's. They're at the top of the game but that does NOT mean anyone that isn't pro doesn't want to spend THEIR OWN hard earned money on something that WILL make some difference to their riding. You're just showing jealousy because you don't have that kind of disposable income.
  • 0 0
Supercow. It's not marketing waffle. These forks ARE different to regular 40's and will feel different out on the trail. If you're too shit to notice how a fork behaves when you ride, the new 40's probably aren't for you.
  • 1 0
Average Joe doesn't know what a downhill bike is, let alone High Speed Compression or Rebound.
  • 1 0
 This is true.
Does average Joe usually spend over £1000 on a set of forks? NO. Therefore is average Joe the target market for these forks? NO.

Whats your point?
  • 0 0
Were on a site dedicated to bikes, were on a article, dedicated to the discussion of a new Fork.. ergo with Joe Averegde im referring to Joe Averedge Downhiller/biker

Dear god does everything need to be spelled out to you kids, and does anyone's opinion immediately need to be disputed so fiercely?
  • 0 1
Firstly stop trying to be patronising when you can't even spell 'average'.

I would have thought it obvious that as these are limited edition forks with only 200 being made, they are NOT aimed at Average Joe downhiller/biker. Thats kind of the point... They are a modified version of the standard 40 aimed at faster racers.

Does everything need to be spelled out to you, kid?
  • 0 0
Firstly... I'll be as patronising as I want. For you to claim I do not have disposable income is ridiculous, as I clear more than £50k a year and I'm more than entitled to an opinion. Why do you feel the need to attack my opinion?

Great - I made one spelling mistake - whoop dee doo.
1. My spelling and grammar is better than 99.9% of these forum's users
2. I would like to see you try and be as good at a SECOND LANGUAGE as I

I had enough of this conversation - have a great life
  • 0 0
I apologuise, obviously I didn't know English was your second language (your profile says you are English). And your grammar and spelling are actually better than most yes.

If you have a disposable income large enough to consider blowing over £1200 on a set of forks you are NOT Joe Average.

You said "RIP OFF, anyone who buys this is a mug" this is your opinion, fair enough. However that imply's that these forks are not worth the extra wonga over a set of normal 40's. I disagree with you as they are limited edition forks that are sprung and damped more agressively for the faster racers out there.

You can't just write glib, uninformed statements and not expect to get attacked for it! If you do not wish to be disabused of your opinion, keep it in your head next time!!!

  • 0 0
I'm doubting that since they haven't technically been released yet...
  • 0 0
im doubting your face. extreme-downhiller69 has a good point the rockshox 40's are amazing, way better than manitou totems
  • 0 0
Fail, rockshox totems... and they aren't even a comparable class of fork....

Rock shox's forks are way better I do have to agree. I'll always prefer the 36 TALAS for slopestyle and the 32's for light slopestyle in dirtjumping. For decent rear suspension and most popular its fox. Rockshox vivids are way better and the boxxers dominate.
  • 113 20
ok, you sound like an idiot first of all, because you pointing out the obvious. second they upgraded like a couple things on these forks from the original just to make 200 easy sales that they are going to charge up the end for. i mean honestly how corny is this "Lucky owners will find trading cards with Rachel and Gee's photos and statistics in the package as well as videos of their winning runs on the Limited Edition owner's manual CD." trading cards, for my suspension?!? and videos of the worlds best winning? are you kidding me? its like they want you to believe "if you buy this, you might as well start racing uci world cup because you will be as fast as the pro's." negative prop me i dont care this just seems like a sleezy way to make some money in our economy. Go Rockshox.

How could you get neg propped for pointing out the obvois? being an idiot would be saying something completly wrong.
  • 23 8
well, first, if your trying to NOT be an idiot, try spell check. second, most of the people who use this site have a pretty good understanding and knowledge of the bike world and dont need people telling/repeating us what fox's and rockshox's strengths and weaknesses are, we know what those are already.
  • 21 13
I'm sorry if i'm trying to type with one arm. I'm guessing about 40-60% of the people who use this site don't know the ACTUALL differences between rockshox and fox.
  • 11 11
im sorry too. ill prop you for at least saying "i'm guessing" instead of "i know". i wonder if those are the actuall (wtf?) statistics Smile
  • 6 7
I would think they are actuall statistics based on how many forums threads that are absoulutly pointless, but are posted by people who don't know anything. Also with the first comment I left I was stating my opinion, people might not like the 36's.
  • 9 1
cool lookin fork but not worth the extra $$
and yea i gotta agree with freerideguy14, lots of ppl on here dont know a thing and think kona and norcos are the shit
  • 14 1
all I'm seeing is normal fox stuff just with a fancy paint job and sticker. if Fox was smart about this, they wouldn't do this Pokemon card thing with a picture of Rachel and Gee. but instead sell these products to everyone at affordable prizes. but uh-oh maybe we won't get to watch there winning race runs which are available on free caster for free in HD. if they don't make any changes to the 40 then the new BoxXer is going to destroy it next year.
  • 5 0
