Donate to Freak Radical-The "Big Hair" Tribute Edition

The funky, interactive journal of mountain culture, the Freak Radical, is back with a onetime special "Big Hair" tribute edition.

Carey "Big Hair" Bokser, the Radical's old Maestro of Marketing recently left us while shredding hard at his local ski mountain. He went out with his boots on. His passing re-ignited the passion of the Freak Radical so we're busting out an issue in his honor. If you have questions about the standard snowflake creation algorithm or how fast not to eat ice cream while riding a skinny, just ask. We hope to hear from the far reaches of the mountain freak universe. We want your creative words, fully insane doodles, epic photos and crazed musings. Bust it out, get published in the Freak Radical.

Send submissions to

As a business, if you want to make an ad donation or help us distribute the magazines at your shop get hold of us at the email above and we'll send out an ad donation kit. Submission and ads need to be in really soon though, yikes.

This issue is a fundraiser for Carey's wife, Anne and young daughter, Noa. All monies generated after print costs are going to help Anne and Noa. Issues will be available at bike, ski and snowboard shops or we'll happily send one to you for a small donation.

If you are not familiar with the Freak Radical then this old review might
pique your interest:

"While urban angst and cynicism sweep the eastern end of this country, a faithful cadre of Ski Freaks mount the peaks of Mother Earth and find a whole wide world to behold. Radical provides just a glimpse into this peaceful reality check. The talk is of hemp and pot, not X and glue. The photos are of exploding snow, laden evergreens, perhaps a board or ski pole barely intruding. Words like sacred, rejoice and playgrounds wave within the borders. Tales of great mountain top treks, an essay "chicks on sticks" and truly informative piece on hemp then and now, might just ease you out of that tight-minded, everything sucks p.o.v. and lure off to a powdery summit for a many-sided high."

This one time issue is due out sometime in early April. Thanks for all your support.
