IIRC that is the case, and some major uplift venues are going to get the poles installed permanently so all you gotta do is rock up with your watch. I imagine that come a real income I'll be getting some of these!

We'll be installing Freelap timing modules on up to 50% of our trails by mid-summer (Alpine, Tempest, Ripper, many others). Freelap will also play a major role in our day-to-day operations in 2008. Our Pro Gravity Team is currently using Freelap for training purposes, our new IndyCross trail concept will feature Freelap timing as well as our gravity camps.

In addition, we anticipate to have the Freelap system installed on all of our race courses on practice days. Its going to be an interesting summer!

I would ABSOLUTELY love that whistler set up some of those! And in the garbanzo bike and bean shop, they would sell the watches, It would be awesome. How much in USD is it? approximately...

In the UK the watch is about £85.00 (about $170.00) and the pole £35 ($70) no doubt that it will be allot cheaper as were taxed on every thing here, allthough unlike you, we do have free health care... which is handy for a dh mtb racer.

i read about these in the Dirt mag a few issues ago, these seem a great new device. i think ou can even purchase more timing poles so that you can do split timings

I've got a set of these, there awesome!!! you can have as many poles as you want, and the watch will record the split times, we set up the poles on individual corners to practice different lines, they honestly are the best training device, quite expensive but well worth it. even one your own, its just you verses the clock.
