Oxford Chile racers Kike Genova and Florencia Espineira took top honors in Sunday's 2 run main event of the Inca Avalanche protected by Bell, motion by Kenda. Sunday's format rewarded the rider that is both fast and stays out of trouble. Each run is scored, combined run scores decided the overall winner of the 2013 Inca Avalanche trophy.
Yannic Wende (Gravity Global -Tigo), the 2012 champion was on his way to sweeping the weekend, winning the qualifier and the first run of Sunday's main, a flat on run two saw Kike Genova (Oxford Chile) take the win, the points advantage and the overall title. Alejando Paz (Santa Cruz - 4X - Ciclon) slotted into 2nd with Aaron Chase (Cannondale - Red Bull) putting together two great runs taking the 3rd step on the podium, Trevor Martin (Guide Pro) and Eric Porter (Diamondback - Kenda) rounded out the top five.
Florencia Espineira (Oxford Chile) swept the weekend of racing leaving Daniela Rojas (Oxford Chile) and Sienna Jensen (Guide Pro) to pick up the scraps. Katie Holden (Giant - SRAM) had qualified 2nd on Saturday, but a mishap on Sunday put her derailleur into her spokes, leaving her out of contention.
Racers were challenged by bog, steeps, rocky and exposed terrain all along the 5000ft descent. There was again spitting rain for run one and slight hail greeted the riders for the final run. At the finish line racers were treated to sandwiches, beverages and of course Cusquena cerveza to celebrate surviving.

The awards ceremony was held in the town square, mc-ed by Ollantaytabo's mayor David Canal Onton. Tons of prizes were given out from Bell, Kenda, KBperu.com, Progressive Trail Design, Pinkbike, Osprey Packs and Dirt Rag. The crowd was treated to a jump jam featuring Wil White and Chris Van Dine. Wil White put on quite a show despite riding an unfamiliar bike due to breaking his in the race.
