World Class dirt jumper, Greg Watts, hammers the Post Office Jumps in Aptos California. POV guru, Ian Boyd, captures the action with his DJI Phantom mounted Hero 3+ drone in addition to some slick, Ian Boyd designed and manufactured camera mounts.
Some may disagree, but I felt there could have been far more exciting tricks in there. Even for Watt's level. On one hand, I'm glad Greg is killin it enjoying riding his bike, but from another, I wasn't that enthused. May sound harsh, but the top 5-10 FMB pro's definitely show why they're the top 5-10 FMB pro's...Still, strong work. If you're reading this Greg, all the more motivation to show me I'm dead wrong and go huge!!
I totally agree. It is a great video but i think a bike video should get you pumped and get you motivated to go ride. (i agree with mrfitz424 it could use some better music also)
This video wasn't meant to showcase the riding it was just to test out his new equipment. If I would've known it was going up, I would have killed it way harder. Check out the postal crew AT's Showdown video, it represents my current level of riding better. And look for me in 2014! Haha
The Post Office jumps have been there since 1996 when a few young lads began to build them. In the beginning it was simply 2 step ups (where the current wood plank drop in is) we would jam downhill on the street to get speed for them. I have a pic of my bro jumping over our friends truck parked in the step up gap. Pretty epic place,..moral of the story is I don't think they are going to be torn down any time soon. This spot has been here for 17 years, I don't even live in Aptos anymore but I would be super sad if they were flattened.
Yah, the dirt is pretty tacky and dark. There is a creek that runs right through the town of Aptos, I imagine thats what keeps the dirt so nice. Its always been really good. Theres some good trails just up the road from here as well.
Yeah they're always that nice. Yes the dirt and the weather are a big part of it. But those jumps get CONSTANT attention from pretty much everyone that rides there.
NKmoto32... I think I started building out there in 94 or 95. But you're pretty dead on about the rest. My little brother snapped a crank there in like 98 or something like that. LOL! Went right through his leg. Idiot didn't get it looked at. Has a pretty gnar scar there. Haaaa!
Most definitely. It's gotten too big and I've gotten to old and too fat to ride it now. These days I just head down every now and again and watch. I need to find a nice pump track to get my legs back and then maybe I'll see if I can find my balls again.
Glad to see these jumps aren't gone yet. I don't even have plans to go ride them (I'm from the east coast, so cross country is a long way to go for dirt), but i'm glad this iconic spot wasn't leveled.
There is always a threat to tear them out. So far people have been fighting the good fight to keep them there. Eventually someone is going to probably have to buy the property to keep them there. But so far so good.
