ITS Tyres Makes North Shore Specific Rubber

Apr 1, 2011
by Tyler Maine
CERRITOS, CA - Intense Tyre Systems and Silverfish UK are pleased to announce that after 6 months of development the latest tread pattern is ready to hit the shops and rider's wheels.

The all NEW Intruder ‘NS’ (North Shore) tyre has been developed with riders who like riding wood and hucking trannies in mind. ITS realized that although the North Shore riding scene and North Shore style trail building has been growing year-on-year, the development of specific products for these riders has not been that large. With this in mind ITS’s design team locked themselves away with the mission of developing a tyre which they could add to their popular DH and FR tyre line-up and which would meet and exceed the needs of wooden structure riders.

Featuring a dual tread pattern which mates bands of high knobs with sections of low aggressive multi-knobs the tyre is designed to give better grip on North Shore ramps and ladders by gripping onto the wooden slats as well as filling and gripping the gaps in between them. “The idea is a simple one really” said Silverfish UK’s Marketing Manager Pete Drew. “by working closely with riders and the tyre factories ITS have developed an MTB tyre which is perfect for wooden ladder riding. The higher sections of knobs naturally fit in the ladders gaps while the specifically designed lower knobs grip onto the wood itself. This means the tyre acts like a ‘track’ and will not slip under acceleration even in the wettest conditions”.

Delivery of the ITS Intruder NS tyre is expected in April and it will be offered in both 2.35” and 2.5” widths. Work is already underway on an lighter weight XC version as well as a 29” tyre as the use of North Shore increases at trail centers around the country.

SRP – TBC
Size – 26” x 2.35”/2.5”

Didn't Vanderham's segment in "Follow Me" teach anyone anything?
Ladder bridges do NOT equal "Shore", go there and look. Some, yes, but the trails are not miles of wood.
Funny enough, I want a set though! Here in FL we don't have the nice wet, rocky mountains they have in the NS, so we DO build a LOT of wooden ramps and bridges...
I wanna try them! LOL

how about a tire for all you doofusus that are still asking serious questions about this tire - like some rubber to fill the gap between yer ears :-)

Looks good for trail riding, but not sure for DH/FR. As for the rear tyre the middle thread looks like a blessing to me when climbing on roots. A thing that concerns me most is the side blocks which might be a bit squirmy and the tyre will lack solid feel on harder surface. I'm not a tyre designer but it just feels that they should be wider and slightly shorter with wide support going long way to the sidewall. That looks like a rain forest tyre for Amazonia but not sure for rocky rooty gnaRRRRR (read pirate aRRRR). Plus on front tyre these sparsely placed, long knobbies will be a feast for diagonal roots.

I live according to Mayan calendar, and 1st of April which is equal to 12th cohones-edad so it's two months more. And leave me alone, in less than a year the world will end anyways after a tsunami will destroy Mount Everest, so I got to get going to build my ark. And these tyres will come handy when building a pumptrack on the slippery wooden ship deck.
