The plan was to head to the Monashee Mountains near Revelstoke, British Columbia with Wade Simmons and Kevin Calhoun to shoot an autumn alpine video for our new Instinct MSL. We wanted to showcase the bike’s versatility under two very different riders - Kevin is an XC racer on our Factory Team, while Wade’s contributions to freeride mountain biking need no introduction.

Wade doesn't mind playing in the snow.

Of course sometimes Mother Nature doesn’t play nice, and an early cold snap provided on-and-off snowfall throughout our adventure.

  Visibility was challenging at times.

Despite the challenging weather, we knew we had an opportunity to capture a unique aspect of the changing seasons. From Kevin’s dawn patrol ascent to Wade charging snowy trail features, the rapidly changing conditions ended up being the perfect way to showcase the Instinct’s versatility.

Thanks to all the guys at Sol Mountain Lodge for hosting us during this trip. Good times. http bikes.com instinct

We’d like to thank the crew at the Sol Mountain Lodge for all their help with this project. Their lodge was a great base-camp and their trails were a blast even in the snow. We’ll be back again in warmer weather.

Thanks for watching, Love the Ride!

I'd really like to see more of this kind of video on PinkBike. The adventure edits are few and far between, especially compared to the downhill/freeride vids.

Yes more single crown adventure edits for the pink people Smile

The quality of the trails and features coupled with excellent cinematography and fitting music was what really made the video for me.

I love my Devinci Wilson when im sending doubles or big drops, or actually shredding anything super technical downhill.
Never ridden a 27.5 before but I still want to be a believer and ride one / buy one.
I had a 29er for a year and for anything pedalling / flat / semi-technical, it was a blast. picked up speed well climbed great.
I see people bashing all the time and its just nonsense honestly, it might not be your cup of tea but a 29er kicks ass in its element, like this video.

I'm with you! I love 29ers, I'm hoping to purchase one soon...I also got to ride a 27.5, which was super fun, but I thought the same about the 26...Maybe that's because I love bikes! Go ride!

I think its fantastic that we live in a day and age where mountain bikes are so refined that we have different wheel sizes to choose from based on what we're riding. Got a Slayer for riding up and down mountains, got a Vertex for ripping local (Lethbridge) single track. Its called the right tool for the job. Tools are expensive so ride what you got and ride the shit out of it!

Open vid with "let's ride" phone call. Check
Shot of camp stove boiling water for coffee/tea. Check
Helicopter shots of high alpine terrain. Check.
I give it a 7.5 on the uniform scale of epic XC edits.
-.5 points for not waking up in a barn.
- 2 points for lack of a salty old dude in a boat.

I'm sure none of us would complain about riding a 29er if we too were riding our bikes for a living!

Right on Rocky Mtn - great vid. Fun to have your crew at the lodge - way to work the weather! Good to see people stoked on the trails - we will be working hard to add more singletrack next summer. Aaron, Sol Mountain Lodge

The paint job on that Rocky really reminds me of the red Santa Cruz V10.5 paint job.
