Parksville and Duncan Races Rock the Island

This year's Island Cup series has been going off!! The great turn outs, AWESOME weather and kick ass voluteers that keep this series so strong have made for a great spring time of racing action. With only one race to go, check out the action in the shots below and get out for the finals next month!!Hammerfest # 13 went off without a hitch May 7, great turnout of over 140 riders riders ripping up an awesome course. A couple of minor course changes from last year smoothed things out and made for some super fast times. Expert Men: Andrew Mitchell in 1st at 2:39:01, Steve Smith 2nd 2:44:11, Steve Chan 3rd 2:45:18. Expert Women: Fiona Taylor 1st at 3:25:74, Glenowyn Carlson 2nd at 3:25:93, Kjersten Lone 3rd at 3:41:68. Thanks for a great race!





The Duncan DH took place May 14 at Mt. Prevost for its second year, sunny weather and changes to the course from last year cut most of the times in half. Duncan's team of trail builders worked tirelessly to build a new lower section which was super fast (I heard of a couple of people burning themselves on rotors).

Steve Smith managed to squeeze out Andrew (finally) with an awesome time of 5:40:54, Andrew Mitchell in 2nd at 5:41:26, Geoff Pendrel in 3rd at 5:54:74.

Expert Women: Fiona Taylor 1st at 7:43:30, Glenowyn Carlson in 2nd at 8:12:09 and Kjersten Lone in 3rd at 9:05:27.
