Over here in Wales there is a race where the aim is to drink as much beer as possible without falling off your bike!

The hecklers on the Hecklers Rock are the UCI's worst nightmare

We call it the "tour de France" fill your camel pak up with wine and see how long you last! Smile
  • 5 2
^wine? i think jager, tequila, vodka or at least a 9-10% beer would be more dh appropriate
  • 4 2
that's every sunday for us. pack as much pbr as you can fit in your pack and try to drink it on the trail before it gets warm.

Every time I saw Tippie I would give him a holler. He would always reactive if he was busy doing something. He feeds off the vibe and we feed off his! Awesome guy, awesome video

This is exactly why it should be a Olympic sport....

 @fullbug
If you'd race in below 0 conditions, you would have an excuse to put vodka in your water. Antifreeze Big Grin

Tippie and Warner should form a commentary duo for every downhill race!
  • 7 1
Da iawn Stiggy boy! Tippie and Warner would be legendary! Imagine the carnage!
  • 10 0
 Tippie is legendary
  • 10 0
tippie, warner, and CG would be the best trio.
  • 8 0
I would pay to watch the three of them announcing an event
  • 6 0
It would be great to see Tippie hijacking the commentators both at Golf US Open. Warner could do that in St.Andrews. The sport would collapse...
  • 2 0
Oh I would love to see that! Imagine the carnage!

Hecklers rock, soon to be known as "Sexual Harassment & Indecent Exposure Rock". Lucky this was in Canada, and not the States otherwise there would be open alcohol violations all over the place!

USA, where it's easier to get a gun than a beer
  • 34 0
Guns, religion, and Walmart. It's what we do in the US and A.

It's easy for us Americans to get guns cause we get them from the French when they drop them and run away
  • 34 9
Yes. Historically that is exactly how that happened. America did not enter the 2nd World War for 3 years because they were waiting for the French to drop their guns so they could use them instead. A well documented fact.
  • 22 3
lol, we never fight against each other, you should've listened your history teacher. Plus, Barret, browning, Colt don't really sound like french brands..
  • 10 0
lol @ stevevstheworld, that's a good piece of info!!! Facts, boys, only facts!
  • 11 0
I am also almost 100% positive that Specialized used to make Heavy Artillery for the Germans back in the day. Some verification needed...
  • 6 1
Lol the second world war began in 1939, the french surrendered in 1940 and the us entered the war in december 1941. That's a year after the french surrenderd. But that was history, Let's talk bikes Smile
  • 4 2
very true @stevevstheworld. we sure took our sweet time to enter into the 1st world war as well... sitting on the sidelines while the french and the germans slaughtered eachother in trench warfare.
  • 4 0
And all the belgiums came to our land to ride their mountainbikes in the netherlands. Because they thought it was epic they began to build there own bikeparks and now we think there bikeparks are epic we ride them all the time# if you throw bikes in it the story is epic
  • 5 4
I hope tippie got more than just the tip in with the girl in the pink braSmile
They are pretty far up the mountain for the cops to get up there and theres a few too many people to give tickets/arrest anyways. Last year when I was riding one of the first chairs in the morning a few guys were already up there drinking beers haha. Its hilarious riding past them on raceday.
  • 3 2
Guys it was just a joke, calm down...obviously I was just messing around. Sorry for the confusion.
  • 2 1
Historically it isn't true that guns are easier to get than beer. You should've listened to your history teacher.
  • 3 1
So having sex with a hot girl gets neg propped now? What has this world come to.....
  • 2 0
@Klein are you forgetting the time america banned alcohol for 14 years?
  • 3 0
@webby01 everyone still drank during prohibition. No one gave a flying fadoodle about the law
  • 9 0
Finally my history degree is serving a purpose... correcting pinkbike historical comments. That degree was worth every penny!!
  • 1 0
Haha! See what Biking can do? Brings multiple people around the world to argue over stuff that started as a joke, glad we could help you out brotha!
  • 2 0
@treymotleyDH im sure they did but the point is they at least attempted to ban it. Guns on the other hand...
  • 2 0
If the ban on alcohol didn't work do you think it would work for guns? This is a sensitive topic and this also a biking website so lets just agree to disagree
  • 1 1
I ran out of smart ass comments and jokes on this thread 2 days ago. Lets all just agree that @treymotleyDH hates french people and go ride bikes! hahaha
  • 2 0
I don't hate the French lol, how can I be a mountainbike and hate the French when MTB legen CG is a frenchie, I have learned one thing from this thread though, do not bring political jokes or politics into a mountainbike website, some jokes are better left unsaid. My bad people of pinkbike!
  • 5 0
No problem bro, that wasn't a quite serious debate for me, that was pretty fun in fact! But hey, you know what it is, I'm french, and french always have to whinge about something, it's like our oxygen, without we can't live! ^^

  • 2 1
yeah, and steve smith for vice prez... or whatever the canadian equivalent of a vp is. Canadians... help me out on this one; is there a "vice" prime minister position similar to our vice grandpa Biden?
  • 2 0
@ObyGobyWanoby Sorry, there is no such thing as a Vice Prime-Minister in Canada.

The world would be a better place if:

1) Warner would be Prime-Minister of England
2) Tippie would be Prime-Minister of Canada
3) CG would be President of France
  • 1 0
So does that mean Palmer for US President?

  • 10 1
Don't think he needed one this guy is always hyped
  • 5 0
I think the Air DH is the most pure mountain bike part of Crankworx...joyride and the speed and style are cool...but geez they feel and look basically like stuff that was 10 years ago on a BMX bike. I know moto-x and BMX heavily influences the mtn bike slopestyle culture, but DH is still just pure Mtn bikin'...
  • 2 0
Umm...and yeah, I forgot this was the Canadian open...but it's freakin' awesome too...
  • 8 0
 Ratboy FTW!

This is why nothing else come close to dh racing and riding so chilled but the same time dead serious. Dude with the chainsaw looked like something out of a movie

I was there. Way fun. Shirts Off! Did anyone see the freakin' dude who rolled off the rock? O freaking Ouch man...I thought he was going to stop....no...one more slow roll...then stop???...Now way...One more slower roll...then one more...Oh freaking I wonder how he feels today? I kept looking for Frodo to appear as there were so many New Zealand's there...and they do insist on shirts off!!! Most certainly...SHIRT's OFF or face the consequence. BEER IN THE FACE!!!
  • 1 0
So what your saying.... keep shirt on. Get drunk faster cause of all the beer in the face? I like beer in the face.

Arrggghh, lack of beer, lack of canadian, lack of Rock... Wink
  • 3 1
we ride awesomness here back in the ardennes ...it is not the location that matters but the fun you have in the end ! we rock and drink allot of beer and even better shit Smile than overseas in the canadian country ... Wink
respect is what's matter between riders !! but canada is something special we all have to admit like the Utah desert also is as well as are country's over here ...
  • 3 1
@Aksel31 Every "lack" exists in your head only. Instead try to think of opportunities. All you need is a reason, like small event, people who would answer it and bikes.
  • 3 0
i feel your pain... you are not alone!
  • 3 0
thanks @jedrzeja, my brain is ok. I live in a location where it's difficult to make people understand that cycling is not all about shaved legs and Doping... So here is my problem, the lack of understanding of people around me! Wink

@Aksel31 If you are looking around, look again. Look closely. Look at us here on pinkbike. We're everywhere. Why don't you try to search using pinkbike list.

 nothing like sexual assualt. scumbags
  • 2 0
Which part of the video are you referring to here? I think there's definitely a cause for concern with Hecklers Rock, and we need to be careful that it doesn't get more out of hand - but I was fairly happy that the video didn't show anything that really crossed the line.
  • 2 1
at the end the girl in the pink top said they pulled her top. stay classy
  • 6 2
That's true, and that's definitely concerning. But you didn't see what actually happened there - she seemed fairly amused by the situation, which could suggest it was an appropriate bit of physical banter. It's a rowdy event, no reason to believe there wasn't some reciprocal rowdiness happening there.

I doubt that was the situation though, and you're dead right in pointing out that this is something we should be worried about; but given the context I don't think your original comment was particularly constructive. All you do by making such flat statements is get people on the defensive, and get your concerns dismissed, ultimately re-enforcing this sort of behaviour.

Let's look for more constructive ways to try and keep the toxic 'lad culture' out of MTB eh?
  • 3 1
She can hold her own in a crowd full of drunk bikers. She wasn't bothered at all by the pulling at her bikini she knew she was in for punishment and rolled with it.... All good fun for her
  • 3 1
the thing is, if girls dont want to be there they dont have to be. they have the choice. i was on the rock with my missus, she loved it. if girls dont want to be there they have a choice not to be, they know what they are in for.
  • 2 3
Sorry Ragdoll, but I can't go along with that line of reasoning. It seems to me very similar to the argument that goes "she shouldn't have gone out dressed like that, she was clearly asking for it".

I'm not questioning that a lot of people enjoy the atmosphere up there, and I'm not saying that I think it's got entirely out of hand just yet. However, some aspects of what I've seen from Heckler's rock make me quite uncomfortable - there's definitely a vein of that stupid British style 'lad' misogyny running through it that I would hate to see grow and become more of a problem.
  • 3 0
@ delusional- were you up there?
  • 1 1
she may have seemed amused at the time but her comment in the video would say otherwise. and to see she didnt have to be there is a crock. im sure she knew she was going to be molested by a bunch of drunk a-holes. my original comment was straight to the point and apparently all the adolescent kids on this site think what happened was okay..or were just too stupid to realize what she meant/said. if they get defensive my comment, then thats their fault for not knowing they are in the wrong. im sure more women would be there if they didnt have to worry about what happened to the girl in the video. its sad.
  • 3 0
ill agree with you on the fact that no one should have pulled that girls top. thats wrong and that sort of behaviour shouldnt be tolerated. but everyone that was up there was havn a great time, a couple of minor mishaps aside. even the spectators on the other side of the rock, who were not par taking in the tom foolery, keeping their shirts on and not drinking found alot of amusement in what was going on on the rock. and thats people of all ages and men and women. i know its hard for you to sit on the side lines, watch stuff from your computer and make comments like you know everything. but if you werent there, if you couldnt feel how electric it was then what you have is only your opinion. i dont care what you think of me, i was there and i had an awesome time, with my partner who was also there. and she didnt have to be, she chose to be. if that girl didnt want to go up with Tippie. i bet 100% she didnt have to be.
  • 1 2
ive been to bigger and crazier parties and crazier events with people who are twice as drunk and high as the people there and they all treated everyone with respect with no "minor mishaps" like what happened to that chick. im sure she didnt know exactly what she was going into as she stated in the beginning. im sure if she knew some adolescent drunk kids were going to pull her top, she wouldnt have went into the crowd.
  • 2 0
ive been to bigger and crazier parties also, but im not comparing. and to be honest, even being in the crowd, i didnt know that that happened. you cant judge everyone on one person or a couple of people being dicks. if you werent there and are only going from what youve seen in this video, i really dont think you have any grounds to keep commenting. yes i agree with you that that behavoiur needs to be stamped out but dont persecute everyone for one persons stupidity. tahts all ive got to say really. cause to be fair sitting here wasting my time arguing with some one who only has an opinion built on media coverage... yeah, its gonna go nowhere. get there and experience it for yourself, or not, really i dont care. and im pretty sure she would have been given a full run down on what goes on up there. everyone has a choice at life. she certainly didnt look like she was being dragged up there to get thrown to the heathens.
  • 2 0
Nope she didn't if she didn't want to.. Tippie asked her to do it, she jumped at the chance.

She's going next year - with a double knot in the bikini Wink
