I don't want to be all negative here (lord knows I'd love to win me a KHS) - but I'm pretty sure running a contest this way violates Facebook's T&C.

From - www.facebook.com/page_guidelines.php:

"iv. You must not use Facebook features or functionality as a promotion’s registration or entry mechanism. For example, the act of liking a Page or checking in to a Place cannot automatically register or enter a promotion participant."

and

"vi. You must not notify winners through Facebook, such as through Facebook messages, chat, or posts on profiles (timelines) or Pages."

Also - you don't have to just "like" the page. After you like the contest page, you get a message that says: "All you need to do now go to our Wall and post a quick note telling us what you love about KHS mountain bikes! "

Companies (many bike companies recently) do this all the time on FB. So I guess they have some sort of deal with FB.

yeah but who wants that bike and who wants it signed by logan if they want the xc why arent they giving away the khs 300 dh or something cool.
  • 15 1
I would like that bike. If you don't want it, don't enter the contest. Simple.

haha if i didnt expect to get downvoted for that i would be an idiot. i am welll aware that someone getting second at rampage riding your companies bike is dope. however i truly dont understand why the xc is getting signed by logan.

stokecheech, We know he is not an XC star, but he is a star, most now appreciate that these guys even dress up in a full gimp suit, ballet shoes and get on a road bike for training.
He/his sponsors are just trying to do something to follow up on the back of his rampage success which you can't slate them for.
You are welcome to your opinion, it is a free world, I would not negative prop you for it, it is yours and yours to keep Smile

He does have a point. It does seem a tenuous "look arent these 650's brilliant" endorsement.
Its also going to cost a truckload to build if i win Frown

i think this bike is as rad as Rocky Mountain 790SL Big Grin ... gimme one!

If you are a paying advertiser, you can pay to run contests like this. If you don't pay, you're breaking the rules. Basically, Facebook is so desperate for money to justify their obscene market cap and they'd probably take money from the Nazis if they thought it would help their bottom line.
  • 1 0
They already take money from hate groups, perverts, and republicans...

 But I don't have Facebook!
  • 26 5
 Ditto, facebook is laaaaaame
  • 19 5
then you don't get a chance to win this bike, do you?
  • 7 5
 That's really ok.
  • 5 4
Then what's your motivation to express concern?
  • 10 8
Because ever single contest requires a "like" on FB. Meh!
  • 10 1
What is wrong with running the contest here on one of the biggest mountain bike websites on the www, PINKBIKE!!!
  • 4 1
There are more people on facebook than pinkbike. They probably should have asked you your preference before running the contest I guess.

marketing companies have more access to facebook data, thats why they always want you to like everthing on facebook. then when they work out who got the most impressions they can get paid most, or they can sell the data to another user for big $$

I don't have a Facebook anymore either.... So only losers how use Facebook are eligible? Wink That's lame...

You don't have Facebook?? How are you alive???

facebook has little to offer me except things like this. i find status updates from my "friends" quite annoying most of the time.
  • 3 0
You can edit your newsfeed to ignore status updates...
  • 4 0
 or just remove stupid people
  • 6 0
Or just not be on Facebook. Doh.

"Facebook is for losers" -the new battle cry of hipsters

If the contest is for a frame autographed by Logan Binggeli, then why is for an XC bike and not a DH650B?
  • 4 0
Because its KHS's contest and they can pick whatever bike they want to give away... and Logan is more than just some racer who does the rampage... he's also the KHS Factory team manager... and the fb page that people are being asked to like is the FACTORY RACE TEAM's page...
  • 2 0
I saw Logan ride the exact same model as above just yesterday on a local jump trail with 25' booters and a 9' drop with ease. Heck, he didn't even drop his seat!

I love a competition and I love free stuff but can I say how disappointed I am that this comp is for a frameset. I can honestly say if I won, I simply wouldn't be able to afford to build it into a bike. Talking 1000 for forks and wheels to do it justice
  • 6 2
i have a facebook account! and still agree it is lame! secondly i dont believe these comps actually work.
  • 3 1
I agree. Ive seen a ton of FB contests and never heard of one person winning them.
  • 4 0
Actually, I won a sweet pair of grips from a Decline fb comp a while ago. So now you have heard of one. lol
  • 4 0
Grips are one thing and an expensive bike is another.
  • 6 3
Well that'd make one hell of a christmas present to give to my girlfriend. I'm already planning to put her on a surprise full suspension anyway.
  • 5 3
Very, VERY dumb. Not everyone uses FB, and even so, if it's not allowed, there needs (read; SHOULD be) a way to enter on KHS' website.
  • 3 1
I like how those of us who WANT to win this, are getting negative props... and all you fan boys who don't XC are positive propping each other... you kids really need lives...
  • 2 0
You can't win here can you? These kids think the world doesn't only revolve around them, but are insulted when something might be of interest to someone else.
  • 2 0
It is kinda crap a company tries to do something cool and so many people throughout negative comments. Haters gonna hate and real riders are just gonna ride!
  • 1 0
I agree, don't want to join FB( I'm too old for FB ), don't want everyone knowing how many " sheets of toilet paper " I use to wipe my butt. Would be nice if they did the contest different way
