The straight goods on Kicking Horse Bike Park, straight from the trail crew's fingertips.
Amazing what a bit of low pressure can do. After that long July drought, it rained for almost a week since my last blog. You could almost hear the earth sigh as she absorbed the precious liquid. That change to the soil texture allowed us to finally get a good grip on Superberm. We spent about 6 days filling bomb holes and patching and extending berms. Don't just take my word for it though, here are a couple messages left on the unofficial "official" Kicking Horse thread
: "Superberm was in the best shape I've been on it!" & "Just rode Superberm today and it is MINT."So how do you like that? Doesn't it just give you the warm fuzzies? Makes all the blood, sweat and tears worthwhile. Well, having a sweet trail to ride ourselves also makes it worthwhile.
More dirt was added to the dirt jumps, but they need some more shaping work done. We're letting them ride in for a while and then we'll return with the excavator and muck 'em around again. In fact, I think Scott is out there right now.
The new single black trail below Stickrock has been getting some more attention lately due to the hot, dry conditions we have again. I seriously doubt though that we will get it open by the end of this season. There is a lot of work left to do. But I promise it will be worth the wait.
Rock n Roll is getting a new entrance. The old one was falling apart anyway, then last year the ski slope grooming goliath ground it into gruel. The machine work is complete, with 8 successive berms similar in style to the middle of Blaster. We still have to clean those, and then dig out the connector to the old trail with our cracked and aching hand tools. Open this season? Not sure.Final note
