The straight goods on Kicking Horse Bike Park, straight from the trail crew's fingertips.
"September is always the best month for biking." Perhaps I said this once too often in dry, dusty, bug-ridden August and jinxed us all because so far this has been the wettest first-of-the-'ber' months we can remember. Although, to be honest, we don't remember much. And by 'we' I mean 'me'. But it
has been pretty wet. Which is great, because we've been getting dirty.
Update inside,
Like being in limbo, Chuck is trapped between worlds. But unlike limbo, he's not having to strain his back dancing under a pole.
But not all is snow. Here autumn emblazons Rock N Roll
Instead of following my usual format of breaking down what we've done trail by trail, things are going to get a little crazy around here and I'm going to try this with a
different format. (
sounds of startled gasps throughout internetdom) Yes, because of the abundance of life-sustaining liquid manna that has moistened our fair soil, all we've really been doing is repairing the torn earth after the fierce summer rubber-tired carpet bombing. But I do lay it on a bit thick. The trails are actually in excellent shape. Here a few shots of some of the fixes:

Ok, I have to revert to the old format here and write about a new trail.
Drunken Hobo:
You'll never see this name on the map, but a connector trail from Upper Kranky Pants (below Pioneer's Spiral Tap) over to LYM has been scratched in. Due to the water content, it's soft for now. This is actually a pretty important trail as it opens up some new trail combination options to keep the spice in our, and your, lives.
New route to LYM from Kranky Pants. When it packs in, this should be a step-up to step-down.
Hobo Juction:
This name won't get on a map either (map makers really don't like hobos), but a new connector from Northern Lights over to Chute to View has also been scratched in. Are you starting to recognize a pattern at work here? Seems we have a networking hobo issue.
Featured Trail: All this talk of dirt can mean only one thing - a video about a wood trail: LoveYaMan (LYM)!
With only 2 more weekends to go in our season, we're all hoping for clear skies. The trails are patched together, ready for the final onslaught of gleeful riders. That will include us because it is about time to put away the tools and pull out the bikes for a final yahoo or three. Come join us. You can tell us all about the amazing season you had.
Ride on.

For the Western Open racers, there was a wee pot of gold waiting at the bottom.
