Probably going to get neg'd for this, but that wasn't a super impressive run for 1st place. It was smooth and clean, yeah, but I blame the course for not letting the riders show what they can do. Semenuk can do this whole run in his sleep, that shouldn't win the biggest slope event of the year. That being said, his run was super sick and impressive, not to take away from him as a rider, just saying the course could've been built better. Either way, props to him!
^ You've got to be kidding me... Semenuk could do his run in his sleep because he's THAT good. That doesn't mean his run, or any of the other runs were unimpressive. Those features were really big but because they were so well built, with the exception of it being slightly too fast, the shock aspect was not shown well on camera. I would much rather see a rider throw down on a course like this than one, like last year's, that has features that are more impressive yet unnecessarily dangerous. In the end it's up to the riders to throw down, which they certainly did. Congrats to another successful year, the riders appeared to be loving the course.
he barspun in and trucked out of the sattelite dish, and flip-whipped the last jump... no-one else came close to that. not to mention the 360 barpsin on the first drop
Dye1721, go to freecaster, they should have the whole replay up.
As for this: " Messere's last run would have got him first place"
You don't know that. He was on fire, I will admit and it was looking amazing, but you don't know that. I was gutted when he fell on that hip, he looked crushed at the bottom, and understandably so. I can't wait to see what he does the next few years.
The only person that had a problem with the course was Lacondeguy. He thought the jumps were to small.. Most everyone else said after the courses they've had over the years this one is the one that let the riders show there stuff the most without risking their life on some unnecessarily massive jump or drop. I loved this course. I would probably say it's the best one they've had. And to say that Semenuks run was "unimpressive", is idiotic. I dont know what you expected out of him. But that was pretty damn impressive to me..
Unfortunate that the guys who went all out on more gnarly stuff didn't hold their runs together to the end. Semenuk is always consistent, it might not be the most exciting or progressive thing to watch but it wins him comps.
Word is? Who's word? You know what, no nevermind, how can anyone with a sane grip on reality claim to know he would have gotten a flawless score if he finished his run? No judge in their right mind would say something like that.
Oh.... I get it. You got me tdoyle! You trolled me! Awesome work.
Messere is going to own the industry once he finishes high school and riding bikes becomes a full time job. Watching him ride in person is something else, he's on a different level.
Brandon definetly deserved to win, he is another level above everyone else. He could actually put a consistent run together which sets him apart from the rest. Messere didn't win it because he couldn't put it all together. Bring on next year YEEWW!!!
Messere is definitely the future of slopestyle! He's 15 now, think what he is going to be doing when he reaches 20. SHITS GOING TO HIT THE FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an awesome event! Can't wait for CW in Colorado this week! I thought Semenuk deserved the win and was super dialed. He pulled lots of cool tricks. Messere is a very welome addition to the world of Slopestyle with awesome air and style. Zink the rest of the crew threw down as well. I thought Zinc had the best 360 trick on the jump before the dish. Followed by Messere firsts run high air. His second one was 2 big to land.
Yeah, his progression has been awesome, from local dirt jump shredder to international slopestyle superstar. Oh, and you know you've got talent if you can out-trick Cam McCaul.
Semenuk only won cause Messere messed up. Congrats to Brandon, but time to watch out for Messere! He's on track to crush the slopestyle scene. Pulling runs like that at 15! YEESH, makes me feel really old!
I agree! okay brandon deserved to win... but anthony his run was the only one that got me wild behind the computer.. so bad he fucked up the landing on that hip jump... which again almost was to high to be real..
bit dissapointed about brandons super final run... okay , he knew he won but still..
@spyk27 i dont think that was his "big trick" cause when i was up there i was talking to some of the people that were running the event and they said he had been practicing something no one else has seen, but because of this run i guess he had no reason to do it? Semenuk defiantly deserved to win! He was so smooth with every thing he did.
Lololol it was only flips and whips jump after jump, not really impressive. His finals run on the other hand had some variation and bigger tricks, thus it was way better IMO
Not really, the only big trick he did was the flipwhip off the drop. Something everyone did in best trick. Cam mccauls superman frontflip was wayyy better IMO
But he's brandon semenuk so he automatically gets like 5 points added to his score...
There was some major tricks being thrown down, but Semenuk had a lot of style and he didn't slip any peds, all of his tricks were stomped perfectly. Of course Mccauls frontflip super man was soo sick as well, but the rest of his run didn't stand out as super, you know? The scores aren't based on one trick haha
Nobble, the only big trick was the flipwhip? What about his corked flip on the spine?? tricking in and out of the satellite dish???? stomping everything else with perfect steeze so much that he made idiots like you think it was easy and unimpressive. semenuk is a Boss and he deserved the win at whistler.
If semenuk is so great then how come zink and messere both had equally good runs? (and i dont mean in terms of score, judges are always biased. That's why i prefer DH, the clock dosent lie)
In my opinion messere deserved the win most because he was riding at the same level as the big guns and yet he's 15...
Nobble, you just assumed that Semenuk got extra points for showing up, implying that it was unfair. Now your saying that Messere should get extra points for being 15, wouldn't that be unfair to all the other riders? But still major props to Anthony he killed it!
no i doubt he would have. anthonys run and brandons were for sure better. and honestly cam mccaul had a nicer run and only came 5th, double backflip was cool, but this isnt a best trick comp. the rest of lacondeguys run was not good, had he landed the flipwhip, i think he would have been 5th, because greg watts had a hell of a run
As for this: " Messere's last run would have got him first place"

(don't get me wrong , i wouldnt pull it off)
and when we are talking about fronties... anthony his frontflip of the roll in putts zinks one in another perspective..
but hey , crankworx 2011 is over.. we will see how messere is riding next year..
In my opinion messere deserved the win most because he was riding at the same level as the big guns and yet he's 15...
And from all the events I've seen there's no denying the judges love semenuk... but that's just my opinion
