I use to dislike Kona but I really think they have stepped up their game. They are the kings of FR bikes and there DH race program will hopefully get in tip top shape with this.

good for you.. but in 10 years, no matter what their business is like, i'll still have a kona, most likely one of the ones i currently own, because despite their bad reputation, these bikes will still be more than functioning then, my '03 stab primo serves as a current example

a few of my mates have old stabs and they're all pretty rapid. and their philosophy about having widely spaced pivots is soo true.

They're new range of DH and FR are ace! I picked up my Operator DH in January and haven't looked back, only downside is paint is stupidly thin, it's covered in scratches and gashes and it's only been dropped twice, not even heavy ones! Loving the new range tho!

Pretty cool. I have always been told that kona is crap...(Honestly i am not knowledgeable enough to make a good opinion) ..... what are some selling points and positive things about kona that could be said in its defense? Basically when someone says"kona is crap". How would you convince them that kona is now a high end company and is now a force to be reckoned with?

Well Kona was near the best frame manufacturer at 2006-2007 they won world cup with the blue kona Stab and Fabien Barel - After that they moved to taiwan and made the headtube so thin and weak, i hope they will fix this problem in the operator, to get it strong enough for DH, if they will make a reliable bike again i will try their frames and bikes again! But i hope, they will make a comeback!

I thought I should straighten this comment out as it is very inaccurate! Kona bikes were made in Taiwan in and prior to 2006-07... I have been running the Aus Kona team for 7 years and still to this date have never had a headtube issue. There are so many other variables to consider!

Yes, and he also has half his head shaved, and the other half is long. Who cares, it makes him go fast. He wanted to enter the Garbo DH last crankworx after the entry period and they wouldn't let him. Then a friend of mine on the board said he was a 'pretty big deal' back in Australia. So they let him race, and he crashed out.
