9x U.S. National mountain bike champion, 95' World Champion and 2001 World Cup champion - Leigh Donovan. Couple video and photo highlights from her career. Leigh needed a video last minute for a presentation, divas night thing she was speaking at, so I compiled some old images and video I had and Leigh went to town on the edits...it's no brainfarm/clayporter joint, but it works.
Thank you Leigh for being a true inspiration to this sport! For all of us who have quit and come back to riding, this truly helps us keep hope! I remember watching espn2 as a kid seeing you dominate. You are the reason the sport is what it is today. If it weren't for all of you who started this sport we wouldn't be riding. Great Video!
What a awesome video..... I used to remember coming home from school, reading the latest issue of MBUK or dirt magazine, to which you were in every edition. You and the guys of your era gave me the inspiration to ride and I would be out until dark every evening! You've had an amzing career and it has to be said you still had a lot of pace back in 96 with those judy dh's and xtr v's! After watching this its given me motivation to hit the trails this evening... Cheers
awesome video for an awesome lady!! had the honor of meeting Leigh at Rays MKE this past winter and she is one of the most upbeat, motivating and inspiring people ive ever met. a true pioneer and ambassador for the sport!!!!!
I idolized Leigh Donovan growing up. I started racing when I was 12 and she was not only the girl that I had posters and magazine clippings of wallpapering my room, but she was a race buddy of mine. She was not only the best role model that a girl could have then, but still is for me today. She is the kindest, most talented, strong willed person that I know and I am proud to call her my friend. This video brought me to tears, as it touches on so many races that I was at, and all the times that I got to see Leigh (and all of the races that I did!). I met Leigh at the Massanutten, VA World Cup in 1997 and I was so privileged to be at her last professional race, the 2001 Wolds in Vail, CO. I have kept in touch with her over the years, and even took a detour on my honeymoon last summer to stop and visit her. Leigh is not only a super-awesome athlete, but a wonderful person. Thanks so much Stik for making this video, I 3 you guys!
Leigh is such a good person. I met her at northstar last year on the bikeskills weekend. I was stopped takin a breather and she used the opportunity to give me some great riding tips. Too bad I didn't realize it was her till she went flyin by me later yellin "good job!" on her way by me.
Leigh Donovan was and is so rad! An incredibly talented rider and a fun personality to boot. I think she should highlight her hair though...because some hairs are more important than others! ha ha
I Still have my Lee Donovan World Champion sticker that Troy Lee did for her after the 95 Worlds - showing off that booty in the World Champion skirt.
Great career, great inspiration, great person
Leigh is such a frickin' bauce.
The things that they did back in the day on bikes I would be terrified to ride down the block blowz my minddzzzzzzzzz...
At the 98 WC round in South Africa I had Leigh sign something for a good buddy of mine. I was surprised she agreed. It said "Slap my ass and call me Judy"
