Kazakhstan and Iran have downhill riders at the world champs?! I guess no surprise they don't have any women competitors. Crazy.
  • 7 1
They had competitors at the Olympics too. After all they are countries that have every right to participate, it's just not a huge headline.

Kazakhstan won gold in the Olympics men's road race!
  • 16 0
 Very niiice
  • 16 2
I just keep imagining Borat riding down the course in that gross banana hammock getup of his.
  • 2 0
i think they had a guy like that chasing vinokourov up the hill in the TDF...
  • 5 0
thees my seester, she number 4 ***** in all of Kazakhstan XD

Hah, BTW the rider from Kazahstan is a blond guy with blue eyes! Alexander Zubenko is a crazy rider on a 'lego bike' - which he asaambles 'from all bikes of Kazahstan'.
He came with a Russian rider from Siberia- real Siberia- a far away part of Russia -Angarsk city- it is on the Baikal lake.
Both guys came abroad for the first time in their lives and I do hope they will not even survive among all 'monsters' energies')), but show their best.

You mean Peaty didn't qualify but some guy from the Islamic Republic of Iran competing..........ahh, Ok, totally legit. Baaaaaahahahahahaha
  • 2 0
peaty said on twitter he'd be racing if I remember correctly...
  • 11 1
 no Steve Peat?
  • 3 1
I thought danny hart was out with a shoulder injury!?
  • 2 1
 holy sh*t thats not good
  • 4 1
Yes, Hart is out, as are a bunch of others, we'll post a list of who's out with injuries in the next day or so...
  • 2 0
Yah I wanna know about Peat too Big Grin
  • 1 0
on FB and twitter Peaty has posted that he is going/ is on his way to worlds so I would assume that he is filling places that Hart or other injured riders aren't.
  • 2 0
Hart cant be replaced, even though he is not racing his place is permanent as he is world champ =S if that makes sense?!? anyway not saying sam dale is bad but steve pete should well be in his place!
  • 1 0
Peaty is in the first team, as is Sam Dale, the only reserve is Brendog.

Also, he tweeted toda "Laters England!! Got a race in Austria to go to!! Via Eurobike......." so I'm guessing that he's racing.

He also tweeted a pic of what looks to be his (although it could be Ratboy's) V10 in world champs colours: instagram.com/p/O4NAv_GZUM

 Cool thanks

Hey guys, where is Berni Kerr??
No Hart, no Peat, Brendog for the reserve... strange WorldChamp for UK.
  • 1 0
There's only a limited number of riders allocated so they have to leave some people out. The team choice is done on results this season, that's why Brendan ended up as a reserve and Kerr didn't make the cut. There's nothing on the web saying Peaty isn't racing (it would be BIG news if he wasn't) so I guess they made a mistake and missed him out of this list.

Just seen the official start list for timed practice and peaty is on there Smile

lol peaty's twitter " Just so you all know, i am number 135 because British cycling forgot to enter me!!!!"
  • 3 0
what amazes me is that there is so many more downhillers from almost every country. in fact many dont have any racers entered in xc. but in the real world, xc is wildly more common than dh. if i meet someone who says "yeah i mountain bike" i can assume that they just ride their local trails, and not that they rip a dh bike at a lift served bike park. trek puts it well on their website - "gravity, for the chosen few". but as for professional mountain bicycling, it seems completely different, only 2 countries dont have dh racers.
  • 3 0
Great observation dude! DH is the badboy portion of the sport that drives technology to a far greater degree then XC. And the worldwide solidarity amongst DH'ers is simply f'en awesome!
  • 1 0
To be fair, I know a ton of riders who just ride Trail or XC bikes, but they ride like f*cking mad men on the trails. When I go out for an "XC" ride, on the descents I can't hold back at all. I try to push it as hard as I would on any other bike in my stable.

Hell today, I pushed it a little too hard on my hardtail trail bike. Ended up going OTB in a big way.
  • 2 0
Its not that other countries don't have riders in the XC worlds... its that Pinkbike doesn't bother reporting what riders are entered anything other than the DH and 4X worlds. The trials worlds are happening too this week and that's not reported who the nations represented are.

COSTA RICA!!!...BUT if we don`t win at least we have the hottest chics here
  • 1 0
I was racing with Peaty at the weekend and can say he is defo going to be there and race, (and his bike looks amazing, decked out in GB colours) Hart is out with a shoulder injury and Brendog didn't make it in, hope that clears a few things up.
  • 2 0
Pretty sure Peaty was always on the UK team. Danny is injured..which sucks big time for all downhill fans. I don't think Brendan is racing either for some strange reason.
  • 1 0
Brendawg didn't make the cut. He's pretty gutted about from what I can tell from twitter.
  • 1 0
Keep an eye on #10 Steve Smith. I am going to hate, why would Duncan Riffle make the trip? Mad respect for the shotgun on hecklers rock, but I would save my frequent flyer miles for next season.
  • 2 0

Where can we watch junior men? Id way rather that the the women.... waste my time between the real races.
  • 1 0
It would appear that Redbull.tv is only broadcasting the elite men and women (as did Freecaster of year's past). I just hope that Redbull,tv shows all riders and not just the top 30 like the WC races. Props to Redbull.tv for broadcasting the World Champs for FREE!!

I dont know about for sure, Gwin goit banged up pretty bad last race and finished 5th. I would put my money on Brook the buldog mcdonald for this race, he has the momentum.
