For those of you who know anything about sledding, Brett Turcotte will not be a foreign name. Brett has been a figure head in the sport for many years, and has some impressive titles to show for it such as multiple movie segments, being a 5 time X Games competitor, an X Games silver medalist, and winning the Canadian snow cross championship. On top of all this Brett is also a multi sport athlete, and is a very capable motocross rider, as well as mountain biker.

Whether it s in the forest or on the track Brett sure does like his dirt.

With so many sports and responsibilities it can be hard to attend to all of them. When Lone Wolf Productions first contacted Brett about shooting he had not been on a mountain bike in over a year. However, we knew that his athletic ability would shine through and with a considerable amount of freedom and faith given to us by Giro we decided to make a section that would take us through his 2013 comeback season.

Shooting wide this time with the same styled out result.

Brett had always ridden a hard tail and was primarily a dirt jump rider. I suppose it should have been no surprise that when I lent out my downhill bike to Brett he would obviously be very comfortable on it. His experience on big machines with lots of travel made throwing a downhill bike around very easy, and within one day he was drifting corners and charging steep lines like he had been riding downhill bikes for years. It was clear that Brett's season was about to take an unexpected turn.

Brett quickly sought out a full suspension bike and in the mean time borrowed any bike he could get his hands on. His focus on dirt jumps quickly faded as he began to hone his skills on a downhill bike. By the end of the season it was clear that Brett's style had evolved to create a more well rounded rider. For Brett and us at Lone Wolf Productions it was an amazing season and a great adventure. We left Brett at the end of his mountain bike season and the beginning of his sled season, but we hope to see more of Brett in 2014, keep it pinned!

Getting loosened up for his interview.

Thank you to Bruno Long for all photos provided. Check out more of his work at www.brunolong.com

God needs some scales... he is clearly giving some people far more talent than others.

How can someone (especially a rider who sees parts of this world that the average person would not be able to) look at this beautiful world and think that there is no God or creator of this universe. I can guarantee that it wasn't from an accident or explosion! If you need more proof go on a night ride and at the top of a mountain turn of your light lay down and look at the stars and His creation outside this earth.
  • 12 11
You mean the Big Bang's creation outside this earth.

Hahahaha Rumblefish, I was hoping someone would say something like this, please allow me.

You silly silly person. I am not saying I don't believe in a divine spirit that created everything, I just don't believe in "GOD" (who in most pictures looks shockingly like us) creating everything. Why would he? Just for fun? Seems like a lot of work to me, seeing as by definition if you believe in him, he does have to do everything. I mean with all the answering prayers, and giving babies in Africa aids, and blessing America, and creating bit of himself to die on a cross for our sins that sounds like a lot of shit to do.

I actually find it hilarious that you bring up the stars, because that is my favourite part of science and the world (and it just gets even more epic when you throw in psychedelics). You see I'm not sure if you know this, but you are star stuff. So is your family, your phone, your home, your car, the Earth, the moon, and everything else you've ever seen. Its all star stuff. Or stardust, whatever you call it, it really doesn't matter. But all the atoms you will ever come in contact with, were forged in the middle of stars. Then in a supernova, scattered across the Universe where they clumped into more stars, and then planets. And some how a few (probably) of those planets had the ingredients for life. Some of that life evolved to a point where it could start to discover this fact, and do all sorts of cool shit too, like have an internet, cell phones, cars, BIKES, rockets that fly to the moon. All created by us. From our brain. Which evolved from single celled life.

I"m not claiming to understand everything, if anything I'm claiming the opposite. I don't think anyone of us ever could. And thats how I know you are wrong.

Rant over.

Peace

I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way FractalMan. The reason that he looks like us in so many pictures is because in the bible it says we were "created in Gods image" so people often paint a picture of God looking like us. There are no actual pictures of God and probably wont be. Those pictures are just how certain people picture him in their minds. As far as why God created us is a good question however i think you will find a answer here www.christianitytoday.com/iyf/advice/faithdoubt/8c6013.html. As far as us (as humans) God created everyone of us and EVERY part of us including the brain. He created everything on this earth too including the materials to build " cell phones, cars, bikes, and rockets that fly to the moon" for us to use and invent with. God has a plan for each one of us no matter who we are. And weather you are extremely rich or someone in Africa with aids you can have peace of mind through faith in God. Have you ever met someone that is actually diagnosed with aids? I have, and some of them were Christian and they had a very happy life and were happy people. Even though they have such a terrible disease. I became good friends with a man on a missions trip i took about two years ago, who had aids and knew he was going to die any day but was still one of the happiest people I've ever met (even with aids and his family kicking him out) he ended up passing away shortly after I met him.

weather you want to believe one thing or a another is your decision not mine, even reading this is your decision. I hope to see ya on the trail sometime maybee then we can talk more about this. I don't claim to know everything neither but this is what i believe.

Alright, nine million children die every year before they reach the age of five. Picture an Asian tsunami of the sort we saw in 2004, that killed a quarter of a million people. One of those, every ten days, killing children only under five. Ok, that’s 24,000 children a day, a thousand an hour, 17 or so a minute. That means before I can get to the end of this sentence, some few children, very likely, will have died in terror and agony. Think of, think of the parents of these children. Think of the fact that most of these men and women believe in God, and are praying at this moment for their children to be spared. And their prayers will not be answered. If you're going to invoke a God in explaining the universe then the implications of such a claim must be followed to their logical extents.

I cannot and do not claim to know if a theistic God exists or not, but it is very hard for me to see how if such a God did exist we could consider it moral. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this though if you have any.

Sorry for setting off this philosophical debate, especially on a bike website, but creationism really bugs me. Yes I probably went a little overboard on the ranting, but torren-lamont you pretty much summed up how I feel perfectly. And rumblefish, you really took the aids thing and ran with it. I was just trying to point out that for a god that loves all equally, he sure shows some bias in who gets to live a life of prosperity and luxury. I have met people with aids, and most of them are living happy lives without the need for a divine creator to feel happiness and fulfilment. Let finish with this. I know the world is an amazing place. It so amazing the english language can barley even begin to describe it. All the beauty of nature, the stars, the trees the animals, it is all very miraculous, and could seem like it was created. But when you look at the whole picture of our planet earth, there is a lot of fucked up shit. Disease, corruption, natural disasters, justin beiber, genocide just to start the list. And if this is the work of a divine creator, I'm not very impressed. So once again sorry for sparking this debate, Peace out

Torren there is no reward for those things that come easy. Life isn't easy. Love isn't easy. God didn't put you on earth to have it easy. Life is hard and knowing that God is there and loves you even when life is hard, even when you hurt Him by what you say and do. He loves you. We should be thankful there is an almighty powerful God. If life was so easy why would there be any need for God. We have life because of Him. This isn't the answer to why babies die. I don't know what the answer is. I do know that life is really difficult on many levels. "Sunny days wouldn't be special without rain." 50 Cent.

Whether we're infinitesimal specks that have been globbed together through the most random of chance or the will of some divine being, we're all lucky as fuck to be here, alive, in a beautiful world that we have the means to enjoy. Whatever the motivation, I hope we all aspire to live life to the fullest and beyond that, I'm not sure I care to debate the issue further. I have my beliefs, you have yours and if those beliefs include an enjoyment of tire buzz, smiles, powder, uncontrollable laughter, burritos, or any number of other awesome things then I think we can be friends.
  • 2 0
^Sounds good. My main goal in life is fun. And if you are down for my kind of fun, I'm down with you. And bikes, laughter and powder are just a few of the many things I'd call my kind of fun.

I'm amazed that my innocuous joke sparked such a debate. I also disappointed that I just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading it.

This guy is so rad! His segments in the sledding movies are nuts. It must be relaxing to jump a mtb three or four dozen feet after launching a sled for two hundred feet plus...tricked out. ha ha Go Brett Turcotte!!!
  • 1 1
Where is he riding around 2:54? Those trails look like a ton of fun

 Revelstoke trails
  • 1 0
Including the wood drop with the yvr sign beside it? That seemed like a pretty wide jump trail, looked like resort riding?

Thanks Matt for lending out your DH bike!
  • 8 0
@VPS13 I think it the split between Pro Star and Rock Star at Silver Star
  • 1 3
It's a trail in Revelstoke built by the whistler trail crew. I think its called hotdog hallway. Very fun.
  • 9 0
Hot dog hallway in Revelstoke but it was actually built by the local RCA with help from volunteers in the community and massive help from Rick in Nelson
  • 1 0
 That is revelstoke sir
  • 2 0
@ VPS13 - The section from 2:30-ish to 2:50-ish is indeed Silver Star. Come and git it!
  • 1 0

YEAH TURKEY!!! Getin it!. Would of liked to have seen more snowmobiling because I to am a snowmobiler but great video @Lone Wolf Productions.
  • 1 0
Yeah from the little sledding footage I've watched this guy is pretty nuts
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHhs9PuxcK4
  • 10 0
From the captions and his talking at the start I was expecting a pony vid of another 'x-treme' athlete wobbling down some trails dressed head to foot in Monster clobber doing nothing of any note. Then he busts out a flip and a 360 and...well yeah...clearly that's not him.
  • 10 3
I am the only one wondering how many freeride bikes the guy owns ? Big Grin

Shredder video though !
  • 3 0
yea I think I counted at least 3 big bikes
  • 9 1
You both clearly did not read the writeup, he borrowed those bikes as he did not have one
  • 2 0
oops my bad ! The fact that he borrowed the bikes make him an even harder shedder !!
  • 3 1
@ jtm maybe you didn't listen to him talking in the intro. He said he had a hardtail (his dirtjump bike) and he borrowed a big bike (as in one bike) at the start of the season, then got his own.
  • 2 0
Great vid, awesome riding. It's nice to see all those supermans and no foot can cans on big bike again. I think you don't see them nowadays as often on dh bikes as it used to be in the old movies, like new world disorder and other older stuff.
  • 2 0
everyone has a friend thats better than them at everything! once you finally find something your good at you never tell "that" friend about it. Brett u suck, stop making your friends look bad :>Wink
  • 1 0
So he started with supermens on a hardtail and ended the season doing supermens on a full suspension bike...thats progress....well....just jealousy talking...damn...this Brett can shred
  • 3 0
in spring he was damn good, then he progressed and got even gnarlier. you can see that moto background!
  • 4 0
Way too short Frown . He kills it so hard on everything!
  • 3 0
Guy reminds me of Shaun Palmer, but with less attitude. Capable of any extreme sport probably. Ba%&*rd!
  • 3 0
Well..... If he gets tired of sleds, I guess he has a career in the freeride world.... Jesus
  • 3 0
Sick talent, smooth but powerful style, and a big bag of tricks..... Clearly the next Rampage Wildcard invite.
  • 2 0
Fantastic video! I like the music too. Does anybody have an idea what is this song, please?
  • 2 0
(B)Rick Schneider and the Revvy cycling club built that trail. Not a Whistler crew.
  • 1 0
If you think this riding was rad...do yourself a favour and check out some of his segments in sled necks. This guy is an animal on a sled! (pretty rad on two wheels too!)
  • 2 0
he looks like young Chuck Norris...
  • 3 0
Unpossible! Chuck Norris hasn't aged a day in his life.
  • 2 0
At this rate he should do rampage next year.
  • 2 0
From a hardtail at the beginning of the season.... To that? f*ck me.
