Downhill in South Wales is still alive!

The Welsh may have lost their fire breathing Dragon series, though out of the ashes a new race series has emerged. MIJ Downhill Events.

With the promise of no burned out cars on the uplift road, no kids setting fire to the hillside, no logs across the track mid run, no stone throwing and no more .22 rifles aimed at you, what more could you want?Think that was a joke? Think again, South Wales is famous for Coal Mines and towns that rough that even the rats carry flick knives. A weekend at the Dragons provided you with the best courses in the land coupled with running the gauntlet down the course with the local kids using you as target practice!

Taff Buggy Trails is on private land so no worries as the Farmer just shoots them with his shotgun.

This will be a three race series with practice all day on Saturday. Sunday morning practice followed by two timed runs with the fastest one to count. Uplifts both days, live timing, BC points means if you have a BC license and finish top 15 in your category, come race the the NPS, see www.NPSDH.com. Top 5 will hit the podium with fantastic prizes courtesy of Don Skene Cycles and Mynath clothing, remember the belt here on Pinkbike.com a while back?

The 3 guys at M.I.J. being Martin Henry, Ian Bray and Jon Davies along with a few much appreciated friends are rebuilding the current track as you read this and are also looking at putting in new sections to extend the course. New courses at Taff Buggy are also in the pipeline.

The landowners at Taff Buggy have been fantastic and are supporting us all the way, they are keen to see the return of Downhill events at their venue. The people at M.I.J. have taken all aspects of Downhilling into consideration, the need to appeal to beginners as well as experienced racers, the laws concerning uplifts and the cost. As each of these guys are not relying on this to make a living the prices are low. Although M.I.J. are newly formed they are not new to the Downhill scene, between them they have over 25 years involvement in the sport.

Anyone know what kind of uplift it is? Tractors / trailers? Bikes separate from riders or not?
