The Pan-American MTB Champs are in Colombia this weekend and we've got Pablo Mazuera on the ground covering the event for us, so stay tuned!This weekend, from Thursday to Sunday will be the 2011 Pan-American Champs in the beautiful town of Chia, next to the Colombian Capital of Bogotá, in South America.
Cross Country, Downhill and 4x in the same village "EL CASTILLO BIKE PARK", where the visitors can find a big old castle at the entrance, a beautiful mountain and a magnificent view from the top of it.
There are competitors from 19 countries of America, this Championship is very big and Colombia is well prepared to receive the best bike riders of the continent.
The XV Pan-American Mountain Bike Championship is classificatory to the Pan-American Games in Guadalajara 2011, and is giving two places for XC men and 1 for XC women for the next Olympic Games in London.
In DH we will have big riders like Steve Smith from Canada, Chris Van Dine, Mitch Ropelato, Ethan Quehl, JD Swanguen from the USA, Markolf Bercholdt from Brazil, Carlos Teran from Venezuela, Mario Jarrín and Alejandro Ortíz from Ecuador, and the locals Mauricio Estrada from Bogotá and the Marcelo Gutierrez from Manizales.
Wednesday afternoon will be the first official trainings, we will be posting more news soon.
