Mammoth Bike Park is pleased to welcome Aaron Gwin to the Mammoth Bike Team. Mammoth will be Gwin’s training ground as he works to continue his overwhelming dominance on the World Cup Race Circuit. Gwin broke into the downhill mountain bike scene in 2008 and comes to Mammoth hot off his most successful year of racing ever. Gwin set multiple records this season when he became the first male racer with five U.C.I. World Cup DH wins in one season and subsequently became the first ever American to win the U.C.I. World Cup DH Overall Title.
With over 75 miles of mountain bike trails including the legendary Kamikaze Downhill, Mammoth Bike Park will serve as a perfect training grounds for Gwin to build on his already impressive riding abilities. Having ridden all across the globe, Gwin will bring his trail expertise and help with the design and creation of advanced trails as well as the overall bike park.
"I'm super excited to be teaming up with the Mammoth Bike Park! I've been going to Mammoth since I was a kid racing dirt bikes and it’s one of the coolest places I've ever been,” said Gwin. “The vibe up there is awesome and being so close to So Cal, I see it as the ideal place for a mountain bike park. Mammoth has big plans for the park and I'm genuinely stoked to spend my time up there and to help with the development of the park as much as possible!"
Mammoth Bike Park has undergone major improvements in the last three years including the construction of multiple new jump trails, the installation of over 200 tons of paver bricks and the construction of dozens of wall rides, bridges of other wood and metal features. To help facilitate improvements for the 2011 season, the Mammoth Bike Park doubled their trail crew size to 20 full-time workers and increased capital spending on bike park improvements by 1000%.
“It’s incredible to have a rider of Aaron’s caliber joining our team,” said Mark Hendrickson, Mammoth Bike Park Manager. “He’s one of the raddest riders in all of mountain biking!”
