It's that time of year again, when some of the greatest riders in the world from FMX, BMX, MTB and Sled, gather together in Vienna, Austria for the Masters of Dirt. This year the whole crew are taking the show to the next level and have some pretty special things lined up. One highlight will be Jimmy Blaze showing his Razr backflip for the first time in Europe. The show is a great start to the 2013 season with all the riders ready to show their latest and greatest tricks to the world.
Firm favourites are here as always including Edgar Torronteras who started the whole FMX story and throws down some of the biggest whips in the world. This year will be no exception, with the progression of the sport over the last few years Edgar is still able to prove why he is at the top. A showman that is loved by the crowd, including his legendary Beatbox set he does.
The dirt jumping crew this year includes some of the best riders in the world, with Sam Reynolds and Martin Soderstrom fresh from the recent White Style event ready to pull some new and improved tricks. New for this year includes Pavel Alekhin, from Moscow, Russia. He rides with no brakes, and according to Sam Reynolds can do the biggest and hardest tricks on a dirt jumping bike.
Getting ready for a show of this magnitude is an epic undertaking, with 60 truck loads of dirt and more than 15 ramps, 15 metre drop in ramps, the overall setup is one of the best in the world. Masters of Dirt is made by riders for riders. The fans and general public in Vienna love to come and watch and see how the whole crew push the limits each year. Georg Fechtor, the founder of the Masters of Dirt wants the show to be recognised as one of the best in the world, the fact that all the best riders come here and ride for fun, shows he has achieved that wish, despite this he works year after year to improve it. This year there was supposed to be the first Quad front-flip taken to dirt unfortunately Hugo Ariazzu crashed the day before departure and it is not sure if he will perform the trick live in Vienna for the first time. Georgie says, "We are always trying to push the limits of what is possible, but it takes time and dedication, I am grateful for the MOD family and how they all work to create one of the greatest, next level shows in the world."
Stay tuned for more action to come.
