Masters of Dirt trip Belluno Italy

Feb 8, 2011

Masters of Dirt went to 'bella Italia" with Sam Reynolds and Tomas Barta to practice for the upcoming tour. Sam practiced double front flips and other big moves into Alvaro dal Farra's foampit in Belluno, and then the crew headed to a dirt spot the next day to finish up.

We were going to film M.O.D Team rider Sam Reynolds practicing a double front flip and maybe bring it to dirt in "Bella Italia" Belluno at the CMYK Shoes M.O.D compound to be exact. We called up the guys from filmerforce to capture the moment and Alex Boyce to take some sick shots. Sam flew in from London, Georgie and Barta drove in from Vienna, and the CMYK crew in Belluno had everything proper prepared for us. Good dinners, sick shoes, a great apartment to stay in, run up plates, ambulance, a motorbike for the tow in, mechanics, drivers… everything you need for a sick shoot in an exceptional spot was taken care of.

The first day we went to Alvaro dal Farras massive foampit to practice. Sam busted out some double front flips which were working perfectly at first. But after a few good ones he started struggling with it, and we decided to ditch the double front flip attempt to dirt. This is just not a trick you want to take that kind of risk on, if you go down you go down hard. Sam continued to practice other stuff into the foampit and busted out some really sick tricks such as no handed front flips, superman seat grab one handers , indy flips, flip whips and many more.

The next day we went to the dirt spot which is about 20 minutes from the foampit. It had the benefit of being right next to a big construction site with all kinds of machines, and the guys helped us to build the perfect landing. Everyone was pumped and ready to go and it turned into a sick session, Massimo Bianconcini and Mike Monti joined in and Sam and Tomas started hitting the fmx ramp at 13 meters, Alvaro giving them enough speed by towing them in. Sam threw some big tricks including front flips, back flips, massive seat grabs and also the big premier his superman seat grab one hand which is totally rad and has rarely been done before on a mountain bike.

After sessioning the big moto jump for a few hours we discovered the massive FMX quarterpipe that Alvaro had at his place, and Sam decided he wanted to hit it. He got towed in and did some massive 7 meter high inverts, the shots turned out to be amazing.

Afterwards we went for a barbecue cooked by Mike Monty himself, a great dinner with a lot of drinks. All of us had a great laugh and the night ended up with a lot of lit farts and funny stories.

After this the family had to spread apart again, but the trip got everyone even more pumped for the first 3 stops of M.O.D 2011!

Graz, Austria February 25-26
Vienna, Austria March 12-13th
Ljubljana, Slovenia March 17th

There are still tickets available so make sure to check out the worlds craziest show!

Masters of Dirt would like to thank: Monster Energy, Alvaro, Andrix , CMYK Shoes, daboot, icio, lorenzo, Rezza, Mike Monty, Massimo and all the restaurant owners that supported us being rude and stupid during dinner.

cuz thats the correct way to do it
(in Britain especially)

dkidd, I recognize that's how they do it over there, but I wouldn't say it's correct, due to the fact that rear shifters are ALWAYS on the right (and front's on the left). Nothing looks worse than a UK kids geared dirt jump bike with a lever over here, a shifter over there, cables, cables everywhere...

moto style man. gotta keep the flow goin'... brake on the left.

think about it this way- the side your rear brake is on is dictated by the side of the street you ride on (shift hand). since Moto style and Britstyle are LHS, then there is more coherency in calling that the 'correct way' (if there is such a thing)

You gotta admit it looks haggard if you run a rear brake and rear derailleur only, though.

by shift hand (above) I meant signal hand.

In the UK we drive on the left because it used to be easier to get on your horse that way and also fight other people who were coming the other way. With your rear brake on your left it's also a lot easier to clothesline pedestrians who are in your way.
