Pinkbike.com fans placed almost 11,000 votes to determine Mike Zinger as the winner of the Pinkbike.com Deep Summer Wildcard Search. Zinger will join the roster of world-class mountain bike photographers competing in the Deep Summer Photo Challenge at Crankworx Whistler Wednesday, August 15.
"I have been a huge fan of this event every year and it’s a huge honour to be a part of it,” says Zinger after being notified of his win. “I can’t wait for what will be one of the most amazing, and stressful, shoots I have ever done.”
With only three days to shoot anywhere in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park or Valley, the event certainly lives up to its name as a challenge. Zinger will be joining these invited pro photographers:
Ian Hylands, Scott Markewitz, Jon Hayward, Justa Jeskova and Reuben Krabbe
On Saturday, August 11 the photographers will rally their chosen athlete teams to embark on three days of intense shooting and editing. Slideshows will be handed in by the end of the day Tuesday, August 14. Then on Wednesday, August 15 each show will be presented to a live audience with first place taking home $5,000, second place $3,000, and third place $2,000.
This year the Deep Summer Photo Challenge will take place under the stars at the spectacular Whistler Olympic Plaza, a state of the art facility for hosting arts and culture events. Priority seating and close sightlines to giant HD screens will be on offer with a limited number of ticketed seats available for $20. The area beyond the ticketed seating will be available for spectators to take in the Deep Summer Photo Challenge free of charge.
