Mongoose "Know Your Roots" Roadtrip - Episode 1

Mongoose Bicycles have been around for a long time, as you probably all know. Since the early days of BMX in the 70's Mongoose has been leading the way in total radness when it comes to the two wheeled, pedal powered variety of stunting your bike. Times haven't changed even now in 2011 and Mongoose thought it was important to recognise the history of the brand by organising an absolute mother of a roadtrip across Western USA. Starting in Denver, passing through Angel Fire in New Mexico, through various stops in the Utah desert and a quick stop in Las Vegas and finally finishing up in Los Angeles, Mongoose Bicycles presents the "Know Your Roots" Roadtrip.


Episode 1 of the Mongoose "Know Your Roots" roadtrip starts in Denver, Colorado where the whole team set off on the mammoth journey to the west coast! Everyone was totally stoked to finally be on the road and a quick stop off in Golden where we checked out the Coors Light Brewery was a perfect chilled out way to start the roadtrip. It turns out this was an apt way to start as the RV fridge was never out of beer for the rest of the trip... Fair enough though when you're traveling 1,600 miles across America, right?


As we travelled across the countryside towards Angel Fire we got to see some amazing scenery which us euros had never really seen before. Amir was so stoked on life as we drove down classic, desolate American roads (pretty sure we saw Jack Nicholson on a chopper at one point) and we couldn't help but stop off a few times to take some lifestyle shots for the video. We couldn't stop for too long though as lift access and rad trails were calling and it wasn't long before we rolled the RV up into Angel Fire, New Mexico.


We met up with Hogan and his team of trail builders who showed us around the mountain. I couldn't contain my excitement as we went off on a scouting mission on the Mongoose demo bikes for the next day's shooting. It was hard to look around for angles when you're having so much fun on the trail and the whole group got to the bottom with massive grins on their faces. I've never actually had so much fun down a trail that I am literally laughing my head off as I'm riding, this was definitely a first for me and it felt so good, just can't wait to get out there again for a holiday at some point!
