How To Rig The Perfect Bike Setup - Fundamentals - Trail Doctor: Not everyone is made the same or rides with the same style, so why assume your off-the-shelf bike setup is right for you? Pro bike photographer and ex-pro bike mechanic Dan Milner shows you how easy it is to make small changes to your bike so that you can get the performance and handling you've always wanted. It's amazing how small changes can make a world of difference to both a newcomer's confidence and a progressive rider's skills. Grab your hex keys and start watching.

When I finaly got the chance to meet I grabbed it. I emptied my bank account and flew down to Malaga to life with him for three weeks. We sat down and tried to find out what inspires us to keep doing what we do: the answer will surprise you.

The Abandoned Ski Village: Sheffield Ski Village closed in April 2012. We took two skiers and one boarder back to the charred remains of the dry ski slope where they learned to ski. The ski village was a key piece in the journey of some of the UK's best freestyle skiers to the top of their sport, including James Woods, James Machon, Ellie Koyander and Katie Summerhayes, all of whom are now Team GB athletes. Our aim is to drum-up support for the Sheffield Ski Village in the city known as the sporting capital of the United Kingdom.

The Cinder Cone: In the Spring of 2014 a small group of close friends broke ground on a building project in Skamania County, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge. Their primary endeavor was a multi-platform tree house, but also included a skate bowl and a wood fired soaking tub as well. The crew came from all over the country and from a variety of backgrounds. Some were professional carpenters, others learned on the job, gaining experience along the way. The Cinder Cone is Foster Huntington’s short film that documents this year-long process of building his dream home with this community of tight knit friends.

Who has ever called Sheffield the sporting capital of the UK? Smile

 No-one!

I cant quiet figure out what wil whites deal is. He acts like he wants sponsors but hardly ever makes videos or anything. dude says he only rides trails like once or twice a year because of where he lives. I know if I had all that coverage from rampage id be moving to better location and riding more. Seems like he just doesn't make the effort to be as good as he could be. how did he get picked for rampage anyway?
  • 8 0
It bothers me that he even in Rampage, in my opinion, there are far better riders than him who could compete in the event. Hell, most of the diggers are absolute shredders.

Im with you guys. Have never understood why he is in Rampage either. Should let someone else take his spot

flag freeride-forever (Jun 9, 2015 at 22:41) (Below Threshold)
Look at all this, a year or two ago I get negged to oblivion by everyone & even PMed by WW himself for shittin' on the dude. :s Now it's all "oh yeah, WTF he doin' @ Rampage?", "he shouldn't even be there!". W/e.

Maybe he doesn't belong at Rampage but he puts in a hell of a lot better runs than Zink does. At least WW actually does a whole fvcking run. :/

I disagree, White has always taken the "easier" lines down the mountain, Besides that, it is a lot harder to do the tricks that Zink and the other riders are doing, compared to the ones White is doing. In the Pro world, Whites tricks are standard in nearly everybody's bag, except maybe the racers,

i thought rampage was judged, and riders have to qualify to ride by having top scores… where does the idea come from that WW is given a spot, or is he pre-qualified without earning it somehow?

My nightmare is XC riding with fatal dropoffs that makes you pucker even if the trail is basically a sidewalk. Much rather be scared going too fast on a DH track that's not on the edge of a cliff.
  • 1 0
 A sidewalk! Ha!

Ride Captain Ahab in Moab, Utah. There are no watery drops, just rock. Well, maybe a little water. Exposure while riding is always a bit of a pucker.

I'd like to see MX shred at rampage- be interesting to see what happens!
  • 2 2
They'd just jump the whole course. nutter
  • 2 0
"Jump the whole course"? No drop in Foster's edit was much more than half the size of the biggest shit at Rampage, if that. We still got a ways to go to hit MX territory with jumps, but when it comes to drops, we're there. Even the biggest MX flip is only about 30' more than Zink's.

^ You suck at taking jokes, haha. good lord. I do find it funny how you think we're comparable to moto when the world's longest backflip ramp to dirt was done 6 years ago to that length you're talking about but more impressively, the longest backflip on a NATURAL takeoff/landing was done almost 10 years ago and was just as big. No multi-day practices into airbags, no perfectly sculpted jumps. As for drops, I'll just point out one example... Robbie Maddison's drop off the arc de triumph for that Red Bull new years event was easily 30ft. bigger than the Jaw Drop.... so no, we're no where near close to moto on that either. Hey have fun at comparing two completely different sports like you've got small dick syndrome. Smile

@scott-townes @freeride-forever whoa guys! chill. Yes it was a joke however these two can't be compared... ever. it's obvious that pedal power cannot emulate engine power whatsoever (rhetorically).

What I was saying that the video inspired me into thinking what MX would be like at Rampage because it would be cool as they're capable of going down AND up the terrain- Imagine the lines they'd conjure up! Mad.

Actually wha'st interesting about MTB matching MX for drops.. yes it CAN (I'm not saying its been done yet but the possibility is there) be matched on a certain level as long the landing's dialled (look at Bender's drops for example).

everyone has kind of Treehause, for everybody it means something else, but it is importnant to have a dream or purpose or project, something what makes you more free.

I like that casual wipe out inserted in middle of the Hailey Elise video.. it gave a regular ride feel to the video instead of an edited fail reel at the end. Maybe I'm just partial to it though because my rides all include me picking myself and my bike up randomly in the middle of a trail, without all the amazing riding the rest of the time though.

12in of rear travel like on a MX bike and like Mr. Bender used to ride back in the day.

It's actually a borrowed bike. "Captain America" aka Art owns it. It's a hell of a ride. I remember Art explaining how his buddy helped get the thing built. Art is a real great guy if you ever meet him. I gave him a stats and stripes jersey in 99 - my buddy made it onto the US BMX team and gave me the jersey as a gift after. Art saw it and I have no issues helping someone who obviously loves his country and people. Guy like him help define our country and community.
